Driver’s Seat is a new mentoring program from the New York School of Burlesque, created to encourage burlesque performers who have little or no experience in producing to put on their own show. With the assistance of two of NYC’s top burlesque producers (Calamity Chang of Room 69, Spanking The LES, and Les Fleurs de Shanghai, and Jonny Porkpie of Pinchbottom, Grab My Junk International Burlesque Game Show, and Dead Sexy), the Parkside Lounge will be taken over by a fledgeling producer every other Tuesday starting March 26. Each performer will create her own show concept and title, choose the performers, and run everything the night of the show. Porkpie and Chang will be riding shotgun to ease the bumps in the road and help them steer around the potholes that can plague new producers. Email [email protected]
