We aim to be responsive to the needs of cultural producers making experimental and cross-disciplinary work, and to provide a platform for in-depth inquiry from varying viewpoi

On November 1st, Amaarae presents THE BLACK STAR EXPERIENCE at Knockdown Center.

BLACK STAR is the Ghanaian artist’s latest album, showcasing a genre-hopping vision of global Black music. Born out of Amaarae’s many cross-continental travels, the record celebrates how, in her own words, “the ways that we approach music are the same. There’s a sense of being untethered and free.” Recontextualizing her own Ghanaian and African musics with club sounds and with the roots of modern-day dance music, house and techno, BLACK STAR is a bold new statement from one of pop music’s brightest voices.

Just Announced: returns to Knockdown Center on October 30.

True creatures of the Brooklyn noise-electronic underground, Machine Girl’s global renown has grown quickly on the back of their visceral live show and surging, uncompromising recordings. Their annual Halloween show, which has become a NYC tradition, makes its Knockdown Center debut.
