MasterVoices MasterVoices is a New York City-based performing arts organization that celebrates the art of musical storytelling!

HAMMERSTEIN’S BROADWAY
April 26, 2027 at 7:00 PM
David Geffen Hall's Wu Tsai Theater at Lincoln Center

As the defining figure of Broadway’s Golden Age, Oscar Hammerstein II shaped the modern musical into a form rooted in character and moral complexity, and influenced the generations that followed.

Now, MasterVoices celebrates Hammerstein’s 40-year career with a concert of songs spanning his early collaborations with Sigmund Romberg, Rudolf Friml, and Jerome Kern to his landmark collaboration with Richard Rodgers. Expect popular songs and buried treasures from Oklahoma!, South Pacific, Show Boat, Carmen Jones, Allegro, Very Warm For May, The Desert Song, Sweet Adeline, and more.

Conducted by Tony Award winner — one of Broadway’s foremost interpreters — the concert will feature the MasterVoices Chorus, a cast of Broadway stars, and a lush orchestra performing new and classic arrangements.

CELEBRATING HANDEL
December 15, 2026 at 7:30 PM
Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall

This holiday season, MasterVoices lights up Carnegie Hall with the music of George Frideric Handel, featuring two of the most iconic opera stars of their generation: soprano and countertenor . Conducted by Ted Sperling, Celebrating Handel journeys through worlds of heroes, gods, and lovers, featuring selections from Samson, Theodora, Semele, Giulio Cesare, and more. Featuring the MasterVoices Chorus and the period-instrument ensemble New York Baroque Incorporated, the evening promises a feast of virtuosic singing and Baroque drama. The concert will conclude with an audience singalong of the Hallelujah Chorus.

This marks the hotly-anticipated reunion of Erin Morley and Jakub Józef Orliński - Countertenor following the Met Opera production of Eurydice. As “the first operatic superstar to win over Gen Z” (Telegraph Luxury), Polish countertenor, breakdancer, and model Jakub Józef Orliński returns to New York for the first time in five years following an international concert tour. Erin Morley brings her “impressive coloratura technique and a sumptuous sound” (New York Times) to MasterVoices following recent Met Opera appearances in The Magic Flute and La Fille du Régiment.

As our 25-26 season comes to a close, we're looking back at SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS – and our incredible cast continues doing great things!

But nonprofit economics mean that even a sold-out production operates at a loss. If you enjoyed what you saw, please consider a gift before the end of our fiscal year on June 30!

MasterVoices is very excited to announce our participation in VOX: AMERICAN VOICES OPERA LAB, a one-night showcase of four 20-30 minute excerpts from NEW grand operas, performed in concert with full orchestra, soloists, and the MasterVoices Chorus.

VOX will be led by Beth Morrison (director and creative producer) and Ted Sperling (music director). MasterVoices is honored to be one of the seven organizations bringing this initiative to life, alongside our friends at American Composers Orchestra, Beth Morrison Projects, Manhattan School of Music, Mannes Opera at the Mannes School of Music, the Metropolitan Opera, and Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC).

Performances will take place on April 1, 2027 at PAC NYC. Submissions for the 2027 VOX presentations will open May 15, 2026. The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2026. Learn more at VOXAmericanOpera.org.

In its original incarnation, VOX was founded by New York City Opera (Paul Kellogg, General Director) and operated under its auspices from 1999-2012. What began as an ingenious way to make use of available orchestra weeks quickly evolved into something far more consequential: an essential industry platform where general directors, artistic leaders, tastemakers, and audiences could experience a wide-ranging panorama of new operatic works in a single performance. The ambitious revival of VOX comes at a moment when American opera is at a thrilling crossroads, with a surge of innovative composers, librettists, singers, and an expanding audience eager to experience cutting-edge new work. Yet, despite this flourishing landscape, opportunities for artists to workshop and hone pieces on the scale of grand opera are increasingly rare. This gap is where VOX steps in, now as a collaborative effort. With performances at the stunning new Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC), VOX will showcase four works-in-progress of scale in New York City, offering a rare platform for artists from across the country to present new creations.
