This Sunday at 11 AM, don’t miss a brand-new 35mm print of SIMON OF THE DESERT, courtesy of the Academy Film Archive, Buñuel’s surreal, satirical take on the titular fifth-century Syrian saint, renowned for his devotion to asceticism while living on the platform of a pillar.

Preceded by his short documentary LAND WITHOUT BREAD, a stark portrait of extreme poverty, which the director edited on his own kitchen table.
