Tropical Garden with Iguana presents a lively interplay of colors and shapes, showcasing flora and fauna against a bright blue sky. This semi-abstract painting features bold flowers and falling seeds with abstract shapes and a watchful Iguana hiding under the palmetto leaves. Janet Filomeno, Studies for Seas of Fire-Sun and Sea No.3, 20” x 16”, Acrylic Ink, Acrylic Paint, Collage, Shellac on Wood Panel, 2024-2025, $4500

Janet Filomeno is best known for her large-scale gestural abstract paintings that employ the use of a variety of materials such as ink, mica, shellac, acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal and at times collage. By use of her physical action such as pouring, flinging, throwing colorful liquids onto the stretched canvas on the floor she is able to re-enact the movement one might sense in oceans, rivers, and other bodies of water.

Dennis Kleidon, Transcendence #2, Acrylic on Canvas, 49.5” x 37.5” 2025, $6,000

Dennis Kleidon’s paintings are unique in the world. While one might see in his work a nod to Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning, or Josef Albers, as well as his own background in architecture, none of these fully account for the robust abstractions he unleashes onto canvas or paper. The final brushstrokes – which appear to be spontaneous – exist within planned compositions that are precisely textured, graphic, and balanced.

Lucinda Luvaas, Eve’s Garden, 30”x 22”, Oil Pigment Sticks on Arches Archival Oil Paper, 2022, $1800

“The work of Lucinda Luvaas has always been about capturing significant moments in time. She creates dramatic tableaux, much like stage sets with actresses gesturing through imagined spaces. Her earliest interests were in theater and film, which is evident in her compositions.

Marlene Struss, The Departed Among Us, 40” x 30”, Acrylic on wood panel, 2026, $3250

My abstract paintings have extolled the beauty and mystery of nature for many years, but In my latest series of acrylic paintings I am incorporating surrealistic imagery of plant life into a biomorphic abstract environment to create a rather more inviting hybrid. Once attention is arrested, the darkened layer of foliage acts as a fenestrated framework in the manner of a stained glass window for a viewer to peer through as if he is close and present in the wild.

What may be more significant is the effect that working so closely with plant life has had on my own awareness. Suddenly, everywhere I go I cannot help noticing the green growth, shapes of leaves, patterns against the sky, the graceful postures, soothing movements, and comforting fragrances -- and I always have my clippers handy! The studio now resembles a junkyard less and a nursery more. What has been retained in this divergence is the excitement of not knowing exactly what the final image will look like, as that is left to the process of backlighting the plants and allowing them to cast their shadow-templates where they will onto the panel for me to solidify with paint. This collaboration creates an interesting authenticity not achievable with direct eye-hand drawing.

What I am saying with these paintings is that the beauty and charm of natural life is still all around us for inspiration and assurance in these troubling times.

Leslie Marcus, Seasonal Shift, 30”x30”, Oil on canvas, 2025, $2800

I translate emotion and perception into color, gesture, and light. My paintings give form to the intangible—memory, atmosphere, and fleeting feeling—often sparked by color, light, or the emotional charge of a place.

Ultimately, we are aware of an underlying unity to be found in her process and in her work. And this sense of unity is also present when Worth speaks of the wellsprings of her work… “I celebrate the hum of the earth—the dance and rhythm of life. I celebrate the living spirit of trees and those places found in Celtic lore where the veil between the spiritual realm and the material realm is very thin.”
