Sextant Productions

Sextant Productions We are no more. Theatre is never above the mêlée.

It helps us find a path when the turbulence is greatest and the source of light seems furthest away.

Theatre that takes the measure of our times

Sextant is theatre with lift, allowing us to rise above the tumult and find our way, though the source of light may seem mysterious and distant.

Sextant gains its sight through a double mirror that allows us to see the world as it is and tap into u

niversal themes that remain constant in human experience. This is a theatre that rediscovers lost plays, harnesses the power of undiscovered talent, combines a sense of grounding with a feeling of wonder, and moves us (deeper into the world and our understanding of our lives).

Jenny Sterlin talks about the passion of play production.
Sextant is thrilled to be collaborating with actor and director Jenny Sterlin (and her company DoubleDeckerProductions) on TALK ABOUT THE PASSION.
OCTOBER 24, 7pm, at THE PLAYERS, 16 Gramercy Park South.

Talk about the Passion by the British playwright Graham Farrow is a challenging one to direct for a staged reading...and I like a challenge. It has only two characters—Mr Carroway and Evelyn Ayles; it requires a lot of physicality; and it is about a serial killer and one of his victims. The story that unfolds is horrific and poignant and could happen anywhere in the world, so we have moved it from England to New York. The two characters both have guilt regarding past actions...and who doesn’t? I am grateful to have good actors who are willing to work hard to make the words portray the sense of the play...a play about loss, arrogance, greed, guilt and revenge. Oh, it is all there in one hour!

NATHAN TYULUTKI is our Stanislaw Poniatowski. Stanislaw is the well-meaning king of Poland, whose good intentions are constantly hamstrung by Catherine's expansionist campaign. It also doesn't help his confidence much that the actor who plays him is married to the actor who plays Catherine, mixing business and pleasure(?).
Nathan is currently based in Los Angeles and is delighted to be making his Sextant Productions debut. Previously, Nathan did a reading of Dahn Hiuni’s Murmurs and Incantations at The Blank Theater’s Living Room Series in LA. Regional Highlights: To Kill a Mockingbird, Park Square; West Coast premiere of Daniel’s Husband, Sordid Lives, New Conservatory Theater Center. Selected Film/Television: The Baxters; In Ice Cold Blood; Bro!; Bounce Houses and Baseball Cards. BA in Theatre from the University of Minnesota; MA in Sociology from The New School.

ISABELLA KNIGHT is The Director. The Director of the Theater of the Abyss has the thankless role of mounting a scandalizing play amidst ever-intensifying government crackdowns, technical difficulties, actor squabbles, and rewrites. And she does it all without a paycheck, too.
Isabella Knight recently appeared in DoubleDecker’s production of Gorky’s Meshahnye directed by Jenny Sterlin. For Sextant, she co-produced and performed in Kafka’s THE TRIAL at the Cherry Lane Studio. She won a Best Supporting Actress Award at a Milan Film Festival for her role as Aunt Shirley in the movie, Growing Up Fat and Albanian. Regional appearances at Hilton Head Arts Center, Franklin Stage and Cape May Stage. She began her theatre career in London at the Young Vic and the Polish Theatre (ZASP) and worked extensively with Andrew Visnevski’s Cherub Company, followed by repertory engagements and national tours. isabellaknight.com

Daniel Cabrera is our modern and relatable Joseph II of Austria. Logical and rational to a fault, Joseph prides himself on being the adult in the room wherever he goes. But his powers for explanation will be tested like never before on his trip to Potemkin's bizarro New Russia.
Daniel Cabrera is a New York City based actor. Daniel received his BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts graduate where he studied both at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. His most recent credits include Claudio in Barefoot Shakespeare and Company of Fools's production of Measure for Measure, Lysander in Santa Fe's Shakespreare in the Garden's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Malcolm in the No Name Collective's production of Macbeth.
