You’re invited to the opening of TIMEWARPED, a solo exhibition by Italian artist Roberto Carullo, this 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟐𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟔–𝟗 𝐏𝐌 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 𝟓𝟏𝟏, 𝟓𝟐𝟔 𝐖 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐭, 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫, 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐚.

Roberto is an Italian-based artist who specializes in mixed media work using recycled polymers on airbrushed, textured canvas. It’s been an honor to work with him as a consultant on this exhibition—helping bring his work to New York and continuing my commitment to supporting artists whose voices merge pop culture and contemporary visual storytelling.

As someone who came to NYC from Rhode Island, building connections in the gallery world has been an enlightening experience. This show marks a meaningful first step, and I’m grateful to be creating space for work that speaks to community, culture, and imagination.

In honor of the Year of the Snake and the ancient symbol of the ouroboros - a snake eating its own tail, representing renewal, rebirth, and nonlinear time - this piece invites reflection. So many systems (social, political, environmental, personal) aren’t working. To reimagine the future, we have to unlearn, dismantle, and remember. The ouroboros reminds us that endings are also beginnings. That we can return to purpose, release what no longer serves, and begin again, together.

Formed in concrete, a material I’m drawn to for its weight, permanence, and history, this sculpture becomes both a portal and a prayer for collective transformation.

I’ve gained invaluable insights through this collaboration with the talented architect Brendan Rose, and it’s always an honor to work alongside The Steel Yard. Together, we brought community engagement and thoughtful design to this small but mighty overpass in the heart of the Mount Hope community—a project that reflects the strength and creativity of everyone involved.

It’s been an honor to transition from murals into the realm of sculptural public art—where every detail asks me to consider the integrity of space, our connection to people and animals, and my evolving role as an artist.

If I’ve seemed quiet over the past two years, it’s because I’ve been working on projects like this while also completing my BFA in Integrated Design at Parsons. I’ll finally be graduating this May, and I’m so excited to share more work like this in the future.

Thinking about Billy Taylor and the many leaders who paved the way reminds me that this journey is not about perfection, but about staying committed to the work, relationships, and growth.

Forgive like the soil, reflect like the water, listen like the wind, ignite like the fire, and grow like the earth.

Here’s to more learning, creating, and celebrating—together.

Sueños de La Niñesa, 2020-22. Inspired by “La Nigueta”. My childhood, up until my dad passed at 7, was dreamy and surreal. In this piece, I remember my favorite moments with hopes of relating to many others that this painting might resonate with.

Sombrero, 2021. The fruit depicted in the painting were from my aunt’s backyard in Sombrero, Bani.

Bani de Noche, 2021. This painting is inspired by a photo of Elixir’s VIP cubicles by the pool, as well as the night sky in Bani, which granted me one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received - the ability to witness a shooting star.

Girls Bathroom, 2021. If you need 1.) a boost of self esteem 2.) a shot of liqour 3.) to cry 4.) to twerk behind closed doors 5.) take mirror selfies with strangers 6.) get advice that you’ll probably never use but you knew it came from the heart 7.) wipe off sweat cause the party is wild 8.) make a sneaky phone call 9.) to FaceTime everyone you love cause you’re drunk and wanna remind them you love them or 10.) just want some supportive girl power, just go to the fu***ng girls bathroom. This painting is inspired by a photograph that I took after tagging a girls bathroom in downtown PVD.

Presidente, 2020-21. Inspired by a photograph that I took of an ironically cold box of beer that was delivered to my house in Bani, hours after the curfew had started by people who were hustling Liqour on their mopeds.

No Es Facil, 2021. (Slide 6, left) I created this as an ode to my exhausting lifestyle.

12/21/20, 2021. (Slide 7, top right) On this day, I met strangers who taught me about and watched Saturn and Jupiter through a telescope in Beverly Hills, CA. The two planets won’t be this close to each other for another 800 years. I had originally planned to go for a simple walk on the hill before this unforgettable plot twist.

Too much pressure, Spray Paint, 2021. (Slide 8, right)

Amelioration, Bronze, 2017-current. After modeling hair for Femafric, I used it to caste a bronze sculpture. This is dedicated to global interconnectedness, support and collaboration.
