Terry “Tee” Alford is lauded as a pioneer Philadelphia House Music DJ by music lovers around the world. His 40+ year journey through the crates of funk and soul vinyl began in New Jersey in the early 1980’s and evolved during his time as an Engineering student at Temple University, where he introduced the city to the sound of dance House Music. He quickly became recognized as a leader in the enter
tainment community, drawing huge crowds to his concert parties. Although Tee's sound was not well received at first, Philly and the surrounding region would soon take notice of the creative enthusiasm at the well-attended dance concerts he co-produced both on and off campus. His live artist showcase themes began to influence fashion, street art, retail music sales, print media and even urban television. In 1988, Tee auditioned for the late, Eric Coston, to join the lineup on Philly's first urban radio House music mix show on WDAS-FM. That very same year, he began his solo club residency on Sunday nights at Club Impulse with radio mentor Kenny Ebo. Tee has since established radio station residences and appearances at Philly's legendary dance events like Sundae, Back 2 Basics, Pleasure Seeker Soul Picnic, NY's Club Cielo, Club Shelter, Washington, D.C.'s Eighteenth Street Lounge, as well as tour dates throughout the Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Costa Rica, Canada, Brazil, Sweden, France, Germany & Italy. Tee's vision undoubtedly paved the way for a new generation of dance music Djs, producers, and promoters in the region. He is actually credited with first exposing Philly tastemakers, King Britt and Lee Jones to the emerging house music genre. To this day, Tee's most noteworthy 90's and 00's remixes and music releases on the Funky People Records, Joint Ventures Group & Blaze Productions labels can still be heard on music playlists worldwide. Tee's continues to keep busy with his US and International radio residencies. The Vibe Mode®, airs weekly to soulful deep chillout audiences in Brazil on BlackPointSoul.com after being a weekend staple in Spain on Ibiza's PlayaSol Ibiza Radio.FM from 2019-2022. This January 2025, marks the twelve-year anniversary of his popular dance mix show, Funky People Radio® LIVE, on Philadelphia's 96.1 WURD-FM.
