My coach (🥈Olympic medalist) once told me that the best bobsledders in the world crash every year and we are lucky to call ourselves one of them. The crash I talk about here is from my first race in Whistler Canada (the fastest track in the world). It was my first time crashing in a race and I decided to get back in for another attempt off the hill. I thought I broke every bone in my body that day. I called my parents crying right before awards I was so lost in the sport and was not sure I had the skills to make it to the World Cup stage. And then I heard over the loud speaker "Lauren Brzozowski in 6th place" And that was when I was awarded my first medal in bobsled. Though I was pictured crying near the podium I shed more tears over the fact that it took me 3 years to even medal in the sport. And then not even a week later I won my first GOLD medal in bobsled. So that is why this crash was my favorite memory... it's because it was the first time in my career I saw that I had the talent to play with the best in the world. And that is why chasing dreams is always hard at the beginning, ugly in the middle and beautiful in the end. So never give up! 📸
