Artist Talk
W.Ming is pleased to invite Chinese contemporary artist Dr. Li Xu to share his perspectives and thinking of the spatial concept of the plastic art in Han Dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD).
The plastic art includes portrait stones and bricks, etc., which were the building stones or decorative materials used by the ancients in Qin and Han Dynasties to build tombs, sarcophagi, stone ques or the others. The ancients carved images and patterns on the masonry surfaces with knives or through molds. This art form reached its peak time in Han Dynasty. The plastic art in Han Dynasty showed us a life and social appearance at that time, which include people's beliefs, observations and their expression perspectives. The spatial concept of the plastic art has deeply influenced Dr. Li's creations in his artistic career.
