Alfonso Tan

Alfonso Tan Rising, Seattle-based, dance music DJ & producer with a passion and attitude that rattles dance floors. House. Tech house. Disco. Occasionally techno.

Let's vibe together! Extended Bio:
Alfonso's passion for music can be traced back to recording his favorite tracks off the radio and trading mix CD's with his friends. He's always been intrigued by both the artistic and technical aspects of DJ'ing, and finally dove into this world at the end of 2018. House music is his foundation and main love, and he finds enjoyment in many forms of electronic da

nce music. Striking a solid vibe with his listeners is what makes him happiest. He grew up on '90's era underground hip hop, R&B, electronica, indie rock, video games, sportscars, snowboarding, and Pacific Northwest culture; the positive influence on his sound is apparent. With Alfonso, the sound has to bounce, groove, connect with the crowd, and have the right attitude. He's covered a lot of ground in his relatively short journey as a DJ: playing for many of Seattle's more prominent outfits (LOST, Nark Magazine, Field Trip, Uniting Souls, Studio 4/4, etc.) at the city's hottest venues (Monkey Loft, Q Nightclub, Kremwerk, Re-Bar, etc.), as well as venturing out to rock parties in Vancouver, Boston, San Diego, and Palm Springs. Whether it be an intimate basement, underground rave, sprawling club, or sunny, rooftop deck, Alfonso can hit the proper groove. Alfonso Tan currently holds a residency with the infamous LOST Family, rocking monthly 2nd-Saturday shows with them at Monkey Loft, and a residency with The Cuff, frequently tearing up their dance floor during the rest of the month. He also recently played Beyond Wonderland 2021 at the Gorge for Insomniac, Desertopia for Palm Springs Pride, and will close out the year with an NYE Celebration on his home turf at the Cuff. Alfonso has also begun producing music - playing with techy, bangin', make-you-dance, club sounds. He has been thoroughly enjoying the evolution in this realm thus far, and plans to keep releasing music while taking opportunities to rock dance floors in a post-lockdown era. Music has always been an important force in Alfonso's life, and he aims to channel its power through his DJ'ing and productions.

Playing in Atlanta for the first time as Kink Down South’s main event headliner was truly something special 🤘 I first got connected with the organizers as they were just launching the event, and there was a lot of interest in working together, but it didn’t make sense until what it has grown into this year. I’ve watched the event grow from afar, and knowing how much heart gets poured into it, it was a HUGE honor to get invited to play at the biggest venue they’ve held their closing event at, The Masquerade. It was suuuch a rad time throwing down for this crowd and fueling some rowdy energy 😈 Huge THANKS to David and Pup Urban for having me! I know how much work you guys put into the weekend, and it means a lot to me that you wanted me to play such a cool role in it 🙏

Visiting Atlanta for the first time and attending the entire KDS weekend was such a great time as well! Atlanta is such a cool city with its own unique signature. I really enjoyed the food, the people, and especially enjoyed getting a little taste of its underground dance scene ❤️ KDS was also sooo great!! I’m sure this whole thing raises eyebrows for some, but let’s be real, we all have our ‘things’ we are into - it was pretty cool to be around people that are so honest about who they are. A lot of really meaningful conversations came out of the weekend across A LOT of topics - race, music, relationships, etc. It was truly a great time. Thank you to everyone that was involved!! Hopefully it’s not too long before I’m back in ATL 🍑

After hearing so much about it, I finally made a visit to Provincetown, MA, and what a way to do it: playing a suuuper fun set during the 48th annual Carnival for a very responsive crowd and supporting a guest performance for the queen kim petras 🤯 What a f’ing blast 💥!! BIG thanks to everyone that got down, and Crown & Anchor // The Tryst Provincetown // OLLYWOOD for the invite —- what a seriously rad time 🙏

With this being my first time on the Cape, Todd Allan joined me and we stuck around for a couple of extra days to get away ❤️ I now understand why so much of the LGBTQ+ community loves it; we had a blast taking it easy, catching friends, eating great food, and getting into a little trouble while tucking in at a reasonable hour (🤣 things end early there). Hopefully it’s not too long before we return!!

This trip also wraps up a really busy summer with shows in PHI, CHI, NYC, PVR, ATL, YVR, SFO, and all over SEA. Currently, I won’t leave Seattle for a set until October, and I’m not too mad about sitting my a** down for a bit. It was a GREAT way to finalé. I’ll have more to say about it in a separate post, but for now, I’d like to give a big thank you to everyone, everywhere that was involved 🥰 It kicked my a**, but I’m so grateful for everything and I don’t take it for granted. Truly, THANK YOU.

Greetings from Provincetown! We’ve been having a blast so far, and are coming to understand why so many people love this place. With Carnival happening (the parade was yesterday), it has been an absolute trip. Todd Allan and I are awful at getting into theme, but we loved seeing how much work people put into it and the great spirits it puts everyone in. This year’s theme was ‘Deep Sea Disco’ 🪩 We are currently enjoying a nice (expensive … 😭 one gripe about this place) brunch and doing some exploration before a set that is sure to be a wiiiild one. I was told A LOT of tickets have been sold to the show I’m playing at Crown & Anchor , featuring kim petras (!!!!!), so if you are here and planning on going, come early!! In any case, happy Saturday!!

Atlanta, how we doin’?! (J/K, I know the answer - hot, muggy, and sticky 🤣🥵). Really though, after a really rough day getting here (working on 4-separate hustles can brutal… finally had time to microwave lunch at 3PM, 6:30PM shower, 9:00PM to the airport), I’m stoked to say that I made it safely and been having a RAD time on my first visit here. I’m catching a pretty good vibe for how to set the tone tonight, so if you’re around, come to Kink Down South and boogie with me 😈🔊 Catch y’all soon 🫡

🏳️‍🌈🇨🇦 Bring your love, to Vancouver Pride ❤️ Thank you sooo much to Vancity for a truly great weekend!! I had a grrreat time playing The Gay Agenda Saturday afternoon Tea Dance!! I certainly enjoy playing late nights that get the crowd into a sexy mood, but it’s also REALLY rewarding to play that feel-good vibe that gets a crowd to groove and smile together… as a proper tea dance does ☀️🪩 I’m so glad that I could contribute 🙏

The weekend as a whole (even though we cut it a little short), was sooo nice 🥰 Vancouver has changed A LOT since I started going up there to party, but I’ve made a lot of great friendships up there across the years, and I loved being able to reconnect, especially since the last visit was for a memorial ❤️‍🩹 I hope y’all are enjoying recovery Monday on Wreck Beach 😜 and I hope to catch you again sooner than later!

Up next: a Seattle summer weekend off (!!!), and then my Atlanta debut for Kink Down South 😈 Have a great week!!

🇨🇦 This weekend, I’m excited to head up to Vancouver to celebrate their city’s Pride, catch up with some good friends, and throw it down for the ultra-FUN The Gay Agenda Tea Dance 🌈🪩 This event always draws a great crowd and is the perfect way to spend Vancouver Pride’s Saturday afternoon. I’ve attended it for the last two years (playing it in 2024 ➡️ swipe for coverage, but pardon the sound quality 😅), and from personal experience, I can highly recommend it to anyone in town for the weekend. As I’ve mentioned many times, I LOVE playing that Tea Dance/day party/feel-good sound to a crowd in proper spirits, and I can’t wait to groove with our neighbors up north. Plus, the homies Del Stamp and OhMy Gord will be rockin’ it alongside ❤️ This event has a tendency to sell out, so snag a presale while you can and I’ll see you out there!! ☀️🔊

🏳️‍🌈 Y’all, Pride took me OUT, and it was totally worth it. I had such a blast across the weekend celebrating with chosen family ❤️ Many hugs, smiles, laughs, dance steps, and even tears were had. It’s so special to me personally to celebrate overcoming the challenges we encounter while being LGBTQ+, or still finding joy despite what we are currently facing. I always use this time to think about my growth as a gay man (sooo much more happens after coming out), and am grateful to be where I am with it. Between our personal journeys and the growing negativity towards the LGBTQ+ community, Pride continues to stay highly relevant and meaningful 💪

There were too many great moments to list them all, but I’m grateful that the weekend was filled with them. I LOVED running into all the friends I’ve made across the years that I don’t often see; those hugs were heartfelt! There’s also nothing like dancing with a crew you feel especially connected to at a massive Pride event, and seeing a sea of people collectively get loose when the beat drops on a q***r anthem. It just hits different on Pride weekend; moments like this truly make me feel unified, empowered, and not alone 🔊

In regard to DJ’ing, it was so f’ing great to play a variety of sounds for some diverse events to a wide range of audiences. Through my sets, I got celebratory, happy, c*nty, sexy, deep, bangin’, and even made myself cry to a particularly meaningful song (the lyrics state: “don’t try to change me”). It was deeply fulfilling to help foster the unity and collective joy that comes with the weekend. Thank you to everyone for being there for it, and to The Cuff Complex, Flammable Sundays, Seattle PrideFest, and Shameless Productions for having me!! Thank you also to these folks for all the work that was put in to create the party. I’ve mentioned my involvement in the Cuff’s musical aspects, but this is just a portion of a HUGE amount of work that goes into it all. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes for making it happen 🙏❤️

If you celebrated, I hope you enjoyed yourself!! I’m finally feeling recovered, lol, so onward to Summer! ☀️

🏳️‍🌈 This photo was snapped from the Cuff Pride Fest’s main stage a few years ago, and this smile will be making a frequent appearance as I see you all across the weekend. I’ve still got some DJ set prep to do, but my excitement for Seattle Pride weekend is ramping up fast and I can’t wait to celebrate with you all! I’m playing a bunch of cool stuff around the city and I hope you can join:

🌇 Thursday • 8:00PM-10:00PM - I’ll be b2b’ing with my good friend HAÜS|GASM (David) on the Monkey Loft deck for Shameless Productions’s Pride edition of Deck’d Out, one of Seattle’s best summer weeklies. It’s such a great way to kick things off and always puts me in good spirits for the weekend. Presales are sold out, but there will be plenty of door tickets. Showing up early is highly recommended!

🔊 Saturday • 3:30PM-5:00PM - Capitol Hill Seattle PrideFest will be happening all along Broadway and throughout Cal Anderson Park. As part of it, catch me at the DJ stage in front of the AMP AIDS Memorial. This event is FREE to attend with a lot to check out - vendors, food, performances, and generally great vibes. I personally really enjoy spending Saturday afternoon at it. Swing by!

⛓️ Saturday • 9:00PM-12:00AM - I’ll be rockin’ The Cuff Complex’s club floor during it’s Saturday installment of its massive Pride Fest. As mentioned in another post, it has been an absolute BLAST in recent years, so expect that energy to keep going 🚀 It’s gonna go offff!!

⛪️ Sunday • 10:00PM-2:00AM, multiple times across the night - I’m closing out the weekend in a suuuper special way: playing the legendary, deeply-loved Pride edition of Flammable Sundays with some dear friends ❤️ It’s gonna be really cool (and meaningful!!) to help foster the unique energy of Flamm during Pride. Slide through if you wanna end your weekend in a soulful way, but arrive early and bring cash for the door 😉🔥

Wherever you find yourself, have a great celebration!! With the increase in anti-LBGTQ+ sentiment out there, I personally can’t wait to crank the volume for us. Have fun, stay hydrated, look out for each other, and I’ll catch you out there!! 😘

🌉 Greetings from San Francisco!! Fun fact: this giant Pride flag has been part of my personal journey and gives me a nice shot of nostalgia every time I’m visiting and I see it. It’s interesting how it’s somewhat of a beacon for me, and I’m sure many LGBTQ+ folx can relate 🏳️‍🌈❤️ Now, why I’m here…

Tonight, I’ll be providing the soundtrack for the TRADE SF One Year Anniversary alongside Will Vitagliano 🙌 TRADE was started by Mark Weston and Mike as a new monthly event at the Scott Richard Peterson and it’s been awesome to see such positive results from their work. We’ve attended some shows together and had good chats about music, so it’s been extra-cool to see them bring this concept to life. TRADE is an event with energy that is well-balanced between sexy and fun, drawing a great crowd to dance to some 🔥 tunes. When visiting to play another show last October, I was able attend that month’s TRADE and had a grrreat time! I really enjoyed working with Mark and Mike previously when playing REAL BAD and REAL BAD: RITUAL, so I was super stoked that we’d get to do it again when I got the invite for this event 😃 It’s gonna be a rad celebration, so if you’re around, come through and give TRADE a big HBD!! 😈🔊
