This is Opera Dog Snorkle’s “mommy”, E. Cristin O'Keeffe.
I am heartbroken to say that the little love of my life and my dearest companion, my service dog Snorkle, made his journey over the rainbow bridge on Saturday night, 16 November 2024.
We had a lovely day together with our friend Maro Partamian at Lincoln Center and the Met Opera the day before. And I am so grateful he was with me inside List Hall in the Met to watch and hear that night's live performance of "Tosca".
It is a tremendous comfort to me that Snorkle was able to do the things he loved so close to the end. And that his final illness was brief, and I was able to pet and comfort him through to the last moment as he transitioned over from his mortal life.
I intend to continue this page as a tribute to Snorkle and the things and adventures and arts and places we shared together. Both with past memories, and with moments going forward where I feel especially touched with his loving, soul filled, and unique spirit.
I have included a picture album of Snorkle over the time we had together from Summer 2011 until just a few weeks ago. This includes his first time in an opera house at San Francisco Opera shortly after my former roommate asked me to take on being Snorkle's permanent full time mommy and caretaker. And our adventures at the Met Opera where be became an unofficial fixture after we moved to New York City not long after at the end of 2019.
Please enjoy the many faces of Snorkle. And carry with you his kind, refined, gentle, yet determined and very opinionated spirit.
