Our final takeover of the summer will be this Saturday, August 29! Join us as we follow baritone Yeongtaek Yang behind the scenes of the final performance of Madama Butterfly at Santa Fe Opera.

Yeongtaek made his Met debut during the 2024–25 season as Marullo in Rigoletto, then appeared as the Second Nazarene in Salome. During the Met’s 2025–26 season, he covered Ping in Turandot and Roucher in Andrea ChĂ©nier, sang MoralĂšs in Carmen, and Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly. Recent operatic engagements include Marcello in La BohĂšme at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Prince Yamadori and Sharpless (cover) in Madama Butterfly, Giorgio Germont (cover) in La Traviata and the title role of Don Giovanni at the Santa Fe Opera, the title role of Gianni Schicchi at the Chautauqua Institution, the Forester in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and Des Grieux in Massenet’s Le Portrait de Manon at Manhattan School of Music, and Don Giovanni at the Seoul National University in South Korea. He has received high marks from many international vocal competitions including first prize and the Glen Gary Award from the 2025 Giulio Gari International Vocal Competition, first place in the 2022 Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition, first place in Manhattan School of Music’s 2024 Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition, first prize in the 2024 Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition (Opera Division), and second prize at the 2024 Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition. He is an alumnus of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Artist Program and Chautauqua Institution and holds degrees in voice from Seoul National University and Manhattan School of Music.

Join us on Friday for our penultimate takeover with tenor Ben Reisinger! Ben is about to make his role debut as Roméo in Teatro Municipal de Santiago's production of Roméo et Juliette.

Ben made his Met debut during the 2025–26 season as the First Guard in the holiday presentation of The Magic Flute and later appeared as Gastone in La Traviata, and performed the Sailor's Voice in the Met's critically acclaimed production of Tristan und Isolde. Recent operatic engagements include the Duke of Mantua (cover) in Rigoletto at San Francisco Opera and Alfredo in La Traviata at Opera Colorado, and upcoming engagements include Ismaele in Nabucco at the Teatro Regio di Parma and Jonathan Dale in Silent Night at the Met. Previously performing as a baritone and as a resident artist at Detroit Opera, he sang the Teacher in Ainadamar and Wagner in Faust and covered Terry in Missy Mazzoli’s Breaking the Waves, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Elviro in Xerxes, and Valentin in Faust. In addition to his operatic and concert experience, he has achieved success in some of the top national and international vocal competitions. Recent awards include the 2026 Richard Tucker Foundation Study Grant, first prize in the 2025 PARTNERS for the Arts National Opera Competition, second prize in the 2025 Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition, the Athena Music Foundation Prize from the 2024 Premiere Opera Foundation Competition, and the Stephen Phebus Award from the 2024 Opera Index Vocal Competition. He is an alumnus of the Martina Arroyo Foundation’s Prelude to Performance program and Detroit Opera’s Resident Artist Program. He holds degrees in voice from Nazareth University and Michigan State University.

Our next Lindy takeover will be this Friday, August 14! We are pleased to have mezzo-soprano Lindsay Martin take us behind the scenes of a performance day at Santa Fe Opera.

Lindsay made her Met debut during the 2024-25 season as Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto. She has since appeared as Flora in La Traviata and covered several roles including MercĂ©dĂšs in Carmen, Masha in The Queen of Spaces, and roles in Die Frau Ohne Schatten. Recent operatic engagements include the covering Idamante in Idomeneo at Aspen Opera Theater, the title role of Massenet’s ChĂ©rubin and the Minskwoman in Jonathan Dove’s Flight with USC Opera, and various scenes work as part of the Schwabacher Summer Concert Series with San Francisco’s Merola Opera Program. While studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she sang the title role of Giulio Cesare, Annio in La Clemenza di Tito, and Nutrice and Mercurio in L’Incoronazione di Poppea. She is a 2025 winner of The Sullivan Foundation Award, and in 2024, she was named the winner of the Los Angeles District and won second place in the Western Region of the Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition. Later that year, she was a semifinalist in Houston Grand Opera’s Eleanor McCollum Competition and a finalist in the National Opera Association Vocal Competition. She is an alumna of the Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS Program and San Francisco’s Merola Opera Program. She holds degrees in voice from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

We have a double-takeover weekend! On Sunday, July 12, pianist and coach Ye In Kwak will show us a behind the scenes day at Wolf Trap Opera.

Ye In made her Met Music Staff debut this past season as an assistant conductor in Eugene Onegin and performed in the Lindemann Program’s annual concert of opera scenes and annual recital series held at Merkin Hall. Her most recent engagements include serving as staff pianist and coach at the 2025 Ravinia Festival and participating in the prestigious Georg Solti Accademia RĂ©pĂ©titeur Training Course in Venice, Italy. In 2024, she joined the ranks at Wolf Trap Opera as a coaching fellow, where she served as a coach and rehearsal pianist for La BohĂšme under the baton of Maestro Grant Gershon, Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins, and a workshop for Kamala Sankaram’s House of Yes, commissioned by Wolf Trap Opera. Additional engagements include playing harpsichord for Idomeneo and Haydn’s The Creation at Aspen Opera Theater and Aspen Music Festival and coach for several productions with Korea National University of Arts, including Les PĂȘcheurs de Perles, Eugene Onegin, CosĂŹ fan tutte, and L’Elisir d’Amore. She is an alumna of the Moscow Gnessin Special School of Music, the Georg Solti Accademia, the Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS Program, and Wolf Trap Opera Coaching Fellowship. She holds degrees in piano performance and collaborative piano from Seoul National University, Korea National University of Arts, and Manhattan School of Music.

Tune in this Friday, July 10 for a day at the Georg Solti Accademia with mezzo-soprano Hannah Jones!

Hannah made her Met debut during the 2024–25 season as one of the Unborn in Die Frau ohne Schatten before covering the role of Iras in the company premiere of John Adam's Antony and Cleopatra later that season. This past season at the Met, Hannah dazzled as Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Annina in La Traviata. Recent operatic engagements also include Jennie Jackson in the world premiere of Tazewell Thompson’s Jubilee at Seattle Opera, Monisha (cover) in Joplin’s Treemonisha and Mrs. McLean (cover) in Floyd’s Susannah at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Hermia in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Manhattan School of Music. She was the 2024 winner of the DC-Maryland-Virginia District of the Met's Laffont Competition, second place winner of the 2024 Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition, and 2024 recipient of the Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshana Foundation. She is an alumna of the Gerdine Young Artist Program at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Seagle Festival Emerging Artist Program, and was a member of the inaugural cohort of the Denyce Graves Foundation’s Shared Voices program. She holds degrees in voice from Lawrence University and Manhattan School of Music.
