Opening tomorrow in New York—Mia Scarpa (.sca.rpa) and Grace Horan () ‘Kinda True.’

The stage is set how many stages have been set before, a small gallery in lower Manhattan, budding artists ready for their next challenge, pruned by masters for their time in the sunlight. The Painter, The Sculptor, like the red and blue lenses of Anaglyph 3D glasses, once both viewpoints merge a new depth entirely is created. There is magic that happens in this moment of unity. The coupling of imagery mirrors the connection between artists; stronger together, new meaning formed by their placement beside each other. Articulating the same moment with different tints. As if one the guardian of the other’s achilles heal, this artistic unison: impenetrable.

Opening next Friday—Mia Scarpa (.sca.rpa) and Grace Horan () ‘Kinda True’ at Whaam!

Bringing together two distinct yet complementary artistic voices, the exhibition explores themes of materiality, memory, contemporary identity through painting, sculpture, and mixed media works. Through process of assemblage, improvisation, and collected imagery, ‘Kinda True’ examines the unstable space between sincerity and fiction, nostalgia and invention.

Mia Scarpa and Grace Horan ‘Kinda True’ opens May 29, from 6-8pm at 15 Elizabeth Street. The exhibition will be on view through July 3.

On view at Whaam! Nathalie Nguyen’s ‘Compartmentalization’ debut new body of work by the artist, including six oil paintings.

Best known as the co-founder of the cult internet-born streetwear label Happy99, Nguyen has long maintained a multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, sculpture, toys, and fashion. Happy99 was founded in 2019 with Dominic Lopez and draws from a wide range of cultural references, from early internet and 90s-2000s imagery to underground rave culture and pop history, creating a blend of nostalgia, humor, and hyper-modernity. Operating independently from a storefront in New York, the brand has cultivated a devoted cross-generational following both online and offline, and serves as a natural extension of Nguyen’s broader creative vision.

Nathalie Nguyen ‘Compartmentalization’ is on view through May 22 at 15 Elizabeth Street.

Piero Penizzotto (.penizzotto) included in The Seventh AIM Biennial: Forms of Connection at Bronx Museum ().

The Seventh AIM Biennial is organized in three fluid and overlapping sections. The artworks in this show explore connection and disconnection: to one’s’s heritage, invoking memory, time, culture, and geography; to society and its norms practices, and structures, through social and institutional critique; and to other individuals or groups, expressed through ideas or identities, intimacy, and distance. Both individually and seen together, these works map intersections and oppositions, insulation and belonging.

‘Forms of Connection’ is on view at Bronx Museum through Monday, June 29, 2026.
