We love our First Steps Division!

Today through next Monday, June 1st, parents of our First Steps Division dancers are welcome to observe their dancer’s classes! Parent Observation Week is such a special time in our studios where we celebrate all the hard work, growth, and joy our dancers have been building all semester long. We’re so excited to welcome families in to watch their little movers shine! 🤩

If your dancer is loving their time in First Steps, the fun continues throughout the summer! We are offering exciting 6-Session First Steps Ballet classes as well as two Fairytale and K-Pop Idol themed week-long Mini Dance Camps. 🧑‍🩰

Mid-May Check In!: the AAPI Heritage Month celebration continues with another amazing Steps Academy teacher 🌟 AND you can shine with her in the studio this month!

Georgina Pazcoguin is a trailblazing actress, producer, author, and former New York City Ballet soloist. Making history as the first AAPI woman promoted from the NYCB corps, she continues to command the stage—recently making a guest appearance with Ballet West in 2026—while leveraging her elite movement background for prestige television, including Severance.

A relentless advocate for systemic equity in the arts, Georgina co-founded Final Bow for Yellowface to combat racial stereotypes and currently serves on the 2025-2026 Tony Awards Nominating Committee as an Actress, Producer, and Diversity Advocate.

She can be seen on screen in her documentary “About Face:Distrupting Ballet 🩰 “ screening at Lincoln Center Late July

We are so fortunate to have Georgina’s guidance and expertise shaping our dancers of the future. Let’s show her some love! 💌

This Sunday, this group of talented young dancers completed their five week Youth Performance Workshop with the AMAZING Katie Walker! 💫

Youth Performance Workshop is a professional-style choreography workshop for serious dancers interested in experiencing fast-paced rehearsal processes mirroring real-world performance training. It culminates in an in-studio showing of the new work, and occurred over five rehearsals. This program is a space for young dancers who are ready to be challenged, supported, and engaged, not just in learning material, but in understanding how work is built.

Live music is not just a backdrop at the Steps Academy. It’s a core part of how our dancers train.

Our accompanists listen, adapt, and grow right alongside our students, creating moments where dancers, teachers, and musicians move as one. This special connection is something we’re proud to offer our Academy dancers. 🎼🩰

We connected with Bradley Harris, one of the artists behind the music that makes our studio come alive. Bradley started playing for Steps on Broadway Open Classes and transitioned into the Academy, working closely with our Director, Jen Kreichman. 🎹

Bradley speaks to the magical connection between the music and dancers and the community here at the Steps Academy that sustains his artistic practice. We are so thankful for him and all he does for the Academy! 🤞

Spring has sprung and our Spring Fling brought the fun! 🌷🪩

This past Saturday, families gathered in our Steps Studio Theater to support our Pre-Professional Division dancers in our Spring Fling Showcase. Our dancers performed pieces by Aubrey Cheek, Hannah Gundermann, Linda Kent, Frida Molina, Robert Redick, Savannah Cobb, and Danielle Diniz, and they sure brought the flare and energy! 🤩
