The Great Gotham Challenge

The Great Gotham Challenge is a large-scale immersive challenge course based in New York City. My brain got a workout.

As the clock ticks, participating teams race across Manhattan to find and decode a series of interactive clues that intertwine with the city’s rich culture and history. Praise for GGC:

"The Great Gotham Challenge is the amazing race & pub trivia rolled into one glorious, fun package." - Grace

"My body got a workout. But most importantly, my heart for NY got a workout. Even after 10 years of living in this amazing city, I learned new things about its heritage that made me fall in love with New York all over again." - Elizabeth

"The most original and memorable event I've had the pleasure of discovering since 'Sleep No More.'" - Mike

"You may never sweat as much as you will running around the city trying to win The Great Gotham Challenge. But you will absolutely, hands-down never have as much fun." - Whitney

Midnight Madness returns to the New York City streets on Saturday, October 10th, 2026. It takes a village to put on a production of this scale as we raise $1 million for Good Shepherd Services, and we need amazing volunteers to help execute this incredible event. We’re heading to Reality Escape Convention (RECON) this year!

Great Gotham Challenge’s own Theresa Piazza will be taking the stage to share lessons learned from creating large-scale puzzle hunts and immersive experiences, with a particular focus on the project management skills that makes these larger-than-life games actually happen.

If you’ll be at RECON, come say hello! We’re looking forward to connecting with fellow puzzle designers, game creators, and immersive entertainment folks. 🧩
