Every death I've witnessed has felt like a door opening.
As a hospice nurse, I've sat at the bedside of hundreds of people as they took their last breath.
And here's what no one talks about —
they all look the same.
The breath slows.
The body softens.
The room shifts.
It doesn't matter if they were 30 or 96.
Religious or not.
Peaceful or afraid.
There is always a moment —
right before —
where something changes in the air.
Like the space between two worlds got thin.
A portal.
I don't know what's on the other side.
But I've watched enough people walk through it to know —
it's not nothing.

Enjoy the journey — even when the journey includes doing absolutely nothing for a little while.

Healers are givers by nature. We sit with pain, hold space for grief, and show up even when it costs us something. But what no one talks about enough is this: we have to come home to ourselves too.

Rest isn't a reward for working hard enough. It's part of the work.

This morning, this cup, this quiet — this is me practicing what I preach. 🤍

Even the ones who walk others through the valley need to pause at the treeline sometimes.

Healing work is sacred. But it's also heavy. And if we never stop to refill — to rest, reflect, and just be — we stop being able to show up fully for the people who need us most.

You are allowed to be a healer and someone who needs healing. Both things are true. 🤍

There is an old belief that dragonflies carry the souls of those who have passed, not as myth, not as metaphor, but as truth felt in the body.

That stillness when one hovers close. The way time seems to slow, the way your chest catches.
You know the feeling, you've felt it before.

They appear at the water's edge at the threshold in the space between what was and what is.
Not to haunt to remind you —love does not end at death. It just learns a new way to move.

In so many traditions, the dragonfly carries the souls of those who have crossed over — hovering between worlds, between what was and what is.

They appear when the veil is thin, when someone who loves you wants you to know they're still near.

If one has found you lately — in your yard, on a walk, in a dream — it may not be coincidence.
It may be a visit.

What does the dragonfly mean to you?
