This June, during Pride Month, we’re proud to celebrate Liz Collins as our Member of the Month. A q***r artist known for pushing the boundaries of textile-based art, Collins transforms fiber into immersive, emotionally charged experiences that blur the lines between craft, design, sculpture, and installation. Working with fabric, yarn, weaving, and multimedia forms, her practice embraces bold color, abstraction, and material experimentation to explore identity, emotion, and human connection. Collins’s work reflects a fearless commitment to visibility and expression, using textiles not simply as material, but as a powerful language through which to examine intimacy, community, and the fluidity of lived experience.

To celebrate the 100th birthday of Miles Davis, it feels fitting to revisit one of the most iconic intersections of music and visual art: the cover of Bi***es Brew by our member Mati Klarwein.

Klarwein’s surreal, densely layered composition mirrored the album’s radical experimentation, translating Davis’ fusion of jazz, rock, electric instrumentation, and global musical influences into psychedelic imagery and cultural symbolism. Rather than simply illustrating the music, the artwork expanded its world, and more than five decades later, both the record and its cover remain defining examples of artistic collaboration across mediums.

Known as one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century, Steichen was equally devoted to the art of gardening. “Edward Steichen and the Garden” by Sarah Anne McNear reveals how his lifelong passion for plants shaped his creative vision, blurring the boundaries between nature and artistic practice.

Richly illustrated with photographs, paintings, and archival material, the book offers an intimate look at the two gardens in his life that became both studio and sanctuary, while highlighting Steichen’s unique approach to creativity. Now on view at the George Eastman Museum, in Rochester, NY, the accompanying exhibition brings this story to life.

Published in association with the museum, and licensed by ARS, this volume celebrates Steichen’s gardening legacy and "closes the circle" on his extraordinary life and multifaceted career.
