I agree with this: if you’re filming an intimate scene, you should have an intimacy coordinator to ensure that the set is safe and the SAG protocols are followed. This protects everyone- not just the actors- but everyone on set and production too! Let’s keep the workplace safe and the work dignified.

Resisting urgency & upholding consent! 🙌🏼

When you're on set or in rehearsal, and you're the only one there who is working to resist urgency and uphold consent, it can feel like you're on a deserted island.⁠

⁠

But just remember, you're not alone! You're part of a movement of change makers working to make the entertainment industry a better place.⁠

Most people are just flowing along with the tide of toxic industry norms totally unaware, but being part of the intimacy work movement means you’re standing your ground to uphold consent and resist urgency.

When you have a community of people who share your values and your goals, its easier to stand firm as a department of one and advocate for consent and bodily autonomy.

There is a reason fish school and birds flock. It’s to gain strength from each other!

It’s our job as Intimacy Directors and Intimacy Coordinators to uphold consent and to resist the toxic industry norms that can erode an actor’s agency, and we need our flock to do it.

Do you want to continue to live on you’re deserted island, and just focus on being a department of one? Or do you want to rally with the movement of many to gain strength and become a more effective advocate?

Intimacy Coordinators are unionizing with SAG-AFTRA! This is amazing news- not just for intimacy coordinators but for the industry as a WHOLE!

ICs deserve to have the protections and benefits that other workers in the entertainment industry have. And when we have these things, we can do our job better to create amazing stories.

I am so excited to raise my voice with as they stand up for what is right. We are URGING the AMPTP to voluntarily recognize the intimacy coordinators.

My sincere condolences to Miriam, Leora and Dr. Ruth’s entire family. What a pioneer she was- her contributions to s*x education, therapy and just normalizing open conversations about s*x were groundbreaking. She was a true icon and will be missed.
