Beef Noodle Festival — with Bubble Tea and Taiwan Beer!

Beef noodle soup became Taiwan’s comfort icon through history and chance. Before WWII, water buffalo worked the fields, so beef was rarely eaten; on a rice island, wheat was scarce and noodles were a luxury. After the war, arrivals from China brought beef-eating traditions and braised flavors, while U.S. aid delivered wheat, flour, and canned beef. With ingredients finally in place—and the savory kick of Gangshan doubanjiang—Taiwan’s Sichuan-tinged beef noodle soup took shape and won the island’s heart.

Bubble tea, born in Taiwan, grew from a hand-shaken local favorite into a global staple. Beer is one of humanity’s oldest brews; Taiwan Beer, rooted in German technique and brightened by local ponlai rice, has earned decades of praise and keeps innovating.

From Taipei’s Beef Noodle Festival to Taichung’s Bubble Tea celebrations and Kaohsiung’s beer fests—we’re bringing these tastes to New York!

Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 1–7 PM, Culture Lab LIC.
