is 17 years sober today!!! I am constantly in awe of the rigor and courage and beauty and vulnerability and honesty with which she lives her life in recovery. Never, ever taking it for granted, always always always grateful, and both of us together, every day, one day at a time, trudging the road of happy destiny. My miracle woman. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Rest in peace James Ransone. 💔 This is heartbreaking. What a beautiful, brilliant, versatile actor. We don’t know how great the pain can be. This hits me hard. Nicky Katt earlier this year, too. Male character actors around my age, whom I deeply admire, who struggled with the same darkness I did. I didn't know him, so I don't want to make presumptions, so I'll only speak for myself as a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, and say that it took a long time and a lot of work, for me to find a way out, but it’s still a daily reprieve, and it's not a guarantee. Maybe some wounds can't be healed. I'm one of the lucky ones; but a lot of men my age are suffering, and we feel alone and helpless and afraid to ask for help, or believe we deserve it, because we've been brought up to see it as weak, and that we're beyond repair. There is always help, but it can feel hopeless, so we need to do more to reach out and offer love and compassion and understanding, without judgment.

Taken verbatim from the journals of John Wilkes Booth, and woven together with passages from Shakespeare, "American Brutus" was my first attempt at a solo play written & performed before the Pandemic. Booth compared himself to Brutus, and Lincoln to Caesar, and he wasn't alone in thinking the President was a tyrant. In his letters and writings, there is this sense of the progression of his delusion, and also the kind of "underground man" and proto-incel grievances of unrequited love, fragility and failure in the world, especially as an actor in the shadow of his thespian father and his brother Edwin, who was considered the greatest actor of the 19th century. It's stunning to me how roughly 160 years later, the exact same white supremacist ideology is still fueling people's hatred today, and justifies in their minds, the most horrific acts of violence and oppression.
