Nigeria is like a graveyard, filled with the dead and the walking dead. You might disagree because you can read this post and believe you’re alive. It only takes one moment, one encounter and you’re gone.
Look around, everything feels stacked against you, almost like it’s thirsting for your blood. You may not have realized it yet, but I have. That’s why I’m Living In Nigeria Like I’m Not Living In Nigeria. 🇳🇬
You saw how they killed the young man in broad daylight, even on camera. Now imagine what they do when no one is watching. He shot him like it was nothing, like he was shooting an animal. Imagine how many Nigerians they have killed this way without thinking twice.
The Nigerian police are not your friends; they are your enemies. You see how hungry and frustrated they always look, that’s how hungry and frustrated their hearts are. Some of them can kill for ₦20.
Hate is a strong word, but I have to use it right now, and I apologize if this comes across as a generalization. I believe there are good police officers out there who don’t behave this way, but still, F**K YOU ALL, including my father’s younger brother, who is an officer.
I have this deep hatred for Nigerian police officers that I can’t even explain. I used to have a few of them in my contacts, but I blocked them after one came to my small apartment, where I’m just managing my life, and said, “Richard, this your TV is too small for this console. You need a bigger one to fit it.” That was when I knew trouble was looming, and I cut him and his colleagues off.
Truly, the console was designed for a bigger TV, but since I don’t watch TV, I bought a small 42-inch one so the console wouldn’t go to waste and so my babies could keep themselves busy whenever they visit their daddy wey dey pamper.😜
Now, what is his concern with the size of my TV? That statement alone made me realize he was assessing my home, possibly to figure out how to extort me later or even frame me if I refused to give them money. He could even plant drvgs or gvns in my house and have me arrested.
I remember how I met him and his colleagues. I told them where I’m from in Rivers State, and about seven of them turned out to be my kinsmen. The rest were Igbo men, which is also like a second home to me, so the friendship kick-started immediately. Of course, I gave them a special treat.💰
While we were discussing and laughing, one of them asked, “Richard, what do you do for a living?” I started explaining what I do, but they weren’t paying attention. They gave me that look like, “Bro, save it...we already know what you do. You’re a Yahoo boy,” even though they couldn’t say it directly. One of them just said, “As you dey chop your money alone, remember us.” I understood what he meant but overlooked it.
So the moment one of them visited my place and made that comment about my TV, I knew he had come to spy on me. I blocked him and his colleagues immediately. He had already assumed that I’m a low-budget Elon Musk, so he expected to see a TV as wide as a projector screen, such a silly bastard.
As a young man doing well for yourself, take note of this: the police are not your friends. Many of them abuse their power, be cautious and protect yourself. Funny enough, one of my uncles is a police officer, but my views on police still apply to him, silly bastard.
As for the young man they killed, the deceased was not innocent, given what he was found with, so they all worked together. He obviously knew something the police officers did not want him to confess, and they quickly ended his life. 🇳🇬
