First review for "Songs of Rebirth" is a doozy!

✅ He writes: "This is intimate, gorgeous and exquisitely crafted music performed as few musicians can."

✅And: "No discerning listener, no one who demands the very best in that art should pass over this recording for Songs of Rebirth is a masterly work with a freshness that is utterly alluring."
I'll take it! You should listen 🎧 to the album - link in comments.

Songs of Rebirth | Jeremy Siskind

Songs of Rebirth is Out Now!!!!

Songs of Rebirth has been my passion project for nearly two years now.

I started writing the music during the height of lockdown in the summer of 2020 while I wondered what the future would hold for me and for the world. It was comforting to create music based on various traditions of rebirth from mythology, poetry, science, and literature.

When composing this music I vowed to write exactly what I felt without being influenced by what might be “cool” or “in vogue.” The resulting songs are really honest reflections from that tenuous moment, equally full of hope and uncertainty, humor and melancholy. It features the incredible musicianship of my longtime partners-in-crime, Nancy Harms and Lucas Pino.

1) Listen!

The most important way you can support my work is to listen. I don’t create this music for money, fame, or glory. I create it for people to enjoy, reflect upon, and sit with. That means, I create it for you!

Click the link below for access to Songs of Rebirth on your favorite platforms.

2) Support the Music with Premium Experiences

If you’d like to support my music and treat yourself to a collector’s item, I’ve created some really lovely options for you.

I can ship you a beautiful two-disc physical album with cover art by our own Nancy Harms. I’ve also created a book with all of the music and lyrics from the session, plus four transcriptions of improvisations from the album. I’ll gladly sign a copy and ship it you!

The two together make a beautiful matching set! They’re available as physical items or digital downloads at my store.

Thanks to everyone who has supported my music making over the years! This album is for you all. 😊

- Jeremy

Songs of Rebirth is Jeremy’s 2022 double album created with his long-standing chamber jazz trio, Nancy Harms (vocals) and Lucas Pino (woodwinds). The music meditates on concepts of rebirth in poetry, mythology, science, and society.

"Tocando Solo Jazz Piano" esta aqui!
https://jeremysiskind.com/product/tocando-solo-jazz-piano/

Jason Yeager, pianista, Profesor de Piano, Berklee College of Music

David Meder, pianista, Profesor de Piano, University of North Texas

Pianist Jeremy Siskind Plays "Danny Boy" (Londonderry Air)

Anybody who has read through my book, “Playing Solo Jazz Piano” knows that I use the Irish folk song “Danny Boy” as a test case. In the book, I’ve imagined the tune arranged in probably 100 different ways.

But I’ve never recorded it…until now! See how I chose to play “Danny Boy” in the beautifully shot YouTube video below:

Hi friends! Join me starting this August for a remote Beginning Jazz Piano class!
Last semester, I had about 30 piano teachers from all over the country (and one from Canada!) join my remote beginning jazz piano class at Fullerton College. It was such a vibrant and supportive environment and the students were thrilled with the progress they made. It's very affordable and my students tell me that it's the best way they've found to nurture their jazz skills.

This year, I'm hoping to have an even bigger group! That means YOU! If you've ever dreamed of improving your jazz skills, this is the way to do it.

I've set up a Frequently Asked questions page on my website for you to learn more and read more student testimonials at www.jeremysiskind.com/jazzclass/

I hope you can join!

Please join me Tuesday at MTNA Conference 2021!
I'll be giving a presentation about what it's like to create a 21st-century piano work, including self-funding, self-publishing, and self-promotion.

The presentation will feature two never-before-heard collaborations between myself and fellow Yamaha artist, Grammy-winning classical pianist Angelin Chang.

Although the presentation is pre-recorded, Angelin and I will both be there live chatting and taking questions.

Jeremy Siskind - Master's of Jazz Series

Hi friends, I was recently interviewed by the wonderful Josh Walsh of jazz-library.com for his "Master's of Jazz" series. (I don't know if I fit the bill for that title, but okay.)

If you want to hear me play a spontaneous version of "Moon River," talk about how I practice, and - frankly - look adorable in a winter sweater, this is your jam!

Although it's a little out of my comfort zone, but for this one, I took a bit of a "one-man band" approach, playing snare drum and hi-hat with my left-side limbs while playing piano with my right-side limbs.

Day 9/10 - Debussy’s “Girl with the Flaxen Hair” (“La Fille Avec Cheveux Lin”)

This year, Andrew Rathbun and I released a recording called “Impressions of Debussy” that comprised several jazz-based interpretations of Debussy’s preludes.

This piece, Girl with the Flaxen Hair, is one of Debussy’s best-known and most beautiful. My version is lush and rich in harmony.

Enjoy!
