Mission:
Guided by Black oral tradition, we express our histories through our lived experiences. This process allows us to create the work we know and believe should exist. In this current state of the entertainment industry, Black people are relegated to the roles of outsiders, observers and victims. As a response, this work shifts us from being natural cynics to producers, writers, actors, directors. Vision:
Labelless Black Box was founded in December 2020. Within 5 years LBB hopes to remain a digital platform that highlights and produces original content by Black Artists, be established as a full-service production house and provide space for Black Artists to perform, work, tour and teach communities of emerging artists. We will be a beacon for integration of social justice in the arts through our feature films, web series and live performance events. We will shift/deepen the narrative on portrayals of black people in the media and increase the trust and truth that Black artists have with their stories being shared. LBB envisions a future in which it is no longer a novelty to see a Black person as a lead. We see stories of love, discovery, adventure, and empowerment abundantly centered in the industry that accurately cover the spectrum of Blackness. A career in the arts will no longer be a poverty sentence. An active Black Artist support network that enhances the passage of stories will be established. LBB understands the need for a paradigm shift and is committed to accomplishing it.
