Do you think about this a lot? I think about this a lot. I think about how crazy it is to be a parent and then to raise a kid who’s unlike both their parents in a profound way. Is there a guide? Can grown-up mixed-race people give us advice?

A few months ago I made a post asking people who identified as mixed-race to answer some interview questions. I received 10 responses back. Some from Vermonters! Some from people who wanted to remain anonymous. Some from people in other countries. I compiled their answers into this zine.

Venmo sliding scale $5-20 to with your mailing address to receive this zine!

Every year I come up with some extremely time-consuming ambitious project which stresses me out before the Gregorian/lunar/Jewish new year. Well, this year is no different. I’ve created a Hebrew calendar with collages, each month featuring a poem from a super rad Jewish feminist poet from Bridges (a queer-led radical feminist publication from the 90’s and early 2000’s), some of Matisse’s early works in Nice (mostly s*x workers) and of course mushrooms and textiles. Some poems are in Yiddish, some are in Spanish, some are written by famous poets like Adrienne Rich, some poets have no trace on the internet!

I can’t wait to share it with you. Venmo any amount to with your email address for a PDF of this Hebrew calendar and include a shipping address if you want one mailed to you sometime after Rosh Hashanah (probably October).

For the past few years all my artist friends like Vivid Movement and Benjamin Aleshire have been making and teaching people how to make cyanotypes and I was always like ok I don’t get the hype? Then I got to make one at Lake City Arts Fest thanks to Première Impression |📍Mtl and oh my god these are so fu***ng fun!!!!!!!! It’s such a cool process and I’m sorry I ever doubted their coolness.

This week's piece for Artwork of the Week comes from Katherine Leung, Milton, VT. "Proofing Dough."

"Like many millennials, I learned to maintain a sourdough culture and proof bread during the first months of the lockdown," said Leung. "March 2020 was the first time in a long time I got to think, create, and exist without the crushing weight of going to work. I feel lucky that the pandemic brought me introspection instead of misery like it did for so, so many.

"The routines I started during that time are now traditions. I make dumplings by hand, pita and frybread, tortillas for breakfast, hamantaschen for Purim, pizza and apple pies. Kneading dough is a connection to the practices of the people before me, but also to everyone else experiencing catharsis and discovering self-love during isolation."

Katherine Leung is an artist and organizer. She is the creator of Canto Cutie zine (cantocutie.com) and Ritual, a podcast about Asian-Jewish life in Vermont (ritualvermont.com). Learn more about her art practice on Instagram at .
