My mom was pregnant with her seventh child… and the moment I said I couldn’t keep raising her kids anymore, she reported me like I was a runaway and had the police come after me.

The knocking on my Aunt Lucia’s door said everything before a single word was spoken.

It wasn’t light.
It wasn’t uncertain.

It was loud, sharp, urgent—the kind that makes your whole body tense and the house fall into silence.

My aunt slowly placed her coffee on the table and looked at me. I was curled up on the couch, clutching my backpack so tightly my fingers ached.

“Stay here,” she whispered.

But I couldn’t.

My legs felt weak, but something stronger pushed me forward as I followed her.

She opened the door.

Two officers stood outside—a man and a woman. Both serious. Both exhausted.

“Is Valeria Hernandez here?” the man asked, glancing past her.

Hearing my name like that felt wrong… like I was already in trouble.

“She’s here,” my aunt said firmly. “She’s my niece.”

The female officer looked at me. “Your mother filed a report. She says you left home without permission. You’re a minor, and she’s worried about your safety.”

Worried.

I almost laughed.

The same woman who left me alone with six kids—changing diapers while trying to finish homework, missing school to care for fevers, putting babies to sleep while everyone else lived their lives—was suddenly concerned?

“I didn’t run away,” I said, my voice trembling. “I came here. I called my aunt. This was my choice.”

The officers exchanged a quick glance.

My aunt stepped aside. “She’s safe here. She’s just… exhausted. She’s been carrying responsibilities no child should have.”

“I need to speak with her,” the officer said.

So I stepped forward.

My body shook—but something else was rising too.

Not just fear.

Something deeper.

“I’m sixteen,” I said. “And my mom is pregnant again. The seventh. She expects me to raise them all—like I always have.”

They didn’t interrupt.

So I kept going.

“I barely sleep. I barely study. I feed them, bathe them, put them to bed. When they cry… they call me, not her.”

My voice broke—but I forced myself to continue.

“I left because I couldn’t do it anymore.”

The female officer’s expression softened, just a little.

And then—

A car pulled up outside.

I didn’t even need to look.

I already knew.

My stomach dropped.

My mother stepped out, one hand on her stomach, the other gripping her purse. Her face was already set into that familiar expression—the one that always made her look like the victim.

She rushed toward me, tears forming instantly.

“Valeria! Thank God you’re okay!”

Before I could react, she pulled me into a tight embrace.

But it didn’t feel like comfort.

It felt like control.

“Mom… let go,” I said quietly.

She only held tighter.

“Do you know how worried we were?” she cried loudly. “Your siblings keep asking for you. The baby won’t stop crying. And me—like this…”

Something inside me shifted.

It wasn’t just anger anymore.

It was something heavier.

Something final.

Story For AduIt Only 3
“See arrange the bed quickly. Two M£n are coming, and you know what it means” Angel said with a mischievous smile.

The men came and they dined together, two men. Did what they wanna do and enjoyed every single moment.

They got payed plenty of thousands. Then the men left. Anna was so happy, “I mean is this how money is easy to make?” She asked.

“I told you, you are too beautiful, you can’t waste your beauty because you lost your husband, this is even the beginning” Angel he friend says and they smile together.

Anna’s mind was no even on her baby, the baby she threw and abandoned on the lonely street.

But that night while the baby was as crying alone at the street. Some passerby who passed that road head the loud cry of the baby but they didn’t bother to check on the source of the cry.

People walked up and down the street paying deaf ears to the cry, some were scared to go close to the bush to check.

But God was not at sleep. A poor woman, young and beautiful was passing that same road, she was coming back from the market at that late hours, she was poor and would remain at the market until she sold all her bananas.

As she walked back home, she heard the cry and paused. “A baby!” She whispered. “What is a baby doing here at night,” she thinks.

The cry sounds so lonely and bitter. So she walked without fears close to the bush and behold she found the child. A young handsome male child lying by the bush alone.

“Who did this to you ?” She say to the baby and took it. “Don’t worry you are safe now” she said again. The. She took the baby to her poor home. Get it washed up and fed it immediately.

Meanwhile Anna was partying with her life. Moving around the town with Angel her friend. She still look very young and she didn’t waste that opportunity. She met new friends and money was coming like water.

“I don’t know but if chief settle me this week, then trust me I might buy a car!” Anna said and jumped.

“Oh my god! Are car? That man is really rich, I wish he saw me first, Am so happy for you!” Angel said to Anna.

“What is our slang again?” Anna asked.

“WE BETTER USE WHAT WE HAVE TO GET WHAT WE WANT” the two of them shouted at same time.

“Anna I know Sl££ping with men is not good but. Here is the plan, after we make enough money. We will stop and get young girls as our own personal girls, we give them to m£n and they bring money while we remain the madam!” Angel suggested.

“Your wisdom is too much,” Anna replied. “What is our slang again?”

“WE BETTER USE WHAT WE HAVE TO GET WHAT WE WANT” the two of them shouted at same time.

To be continued.

⚡️Episode 1: Wrong Number, Right Demon

“Omo, if I knew one text message would summon a demon into my life, I would’ve just gone to bed hungry like every other broke person.”
— Zuri Nwankwo

Zuri Nwankwo’s life wasn’t perfect—but at least it was boring.

Her small room in Yaba smelt like Indomie, sweat, and cheap perfume. The landlord had cut light again, mosquitoes were on strike from biting her because even her blood was broke, and to top it all off, she had just gotten ghosted by her third client this week.

Frustrated, she stared at her cracked Android phone and typed furiously.

“Hello sir, I’ve sent the file. Please confirm if you got it so I can complete the payment. My life depends on this 5K. Thanks.”

To: Mr. Felix (Copywriting Job)

Or so she thought.

The Lagos network had other plans.

The message went to a completely different number—a number that didn’t even look real:
+666-HELL-HELP

Two minutes later, her phone buzzed.

🔥 Message Received

“Your soul has been tagged. Do not move. Assistant Cain is on his way.”

Zuri blinked. “Assistant who? On his way to where?”

She laughed nervously. “Maybe it’s a prank app. I downloaded that new keyboard yesterday—maybe this is a virus?”

But then her lights flickered.
Then her fan spun backward.
Then her wall cracked slightly—just a tiny line—like the house had sighed in frustration.

And then…
He appeared.

Not walked in.
Appeared.

Like a teleportation glitch in a video game, a tall, fine man in a dark suit materialized in the middle of her room, brushing invisible dust off his jacket.

Zuri screamed.
Cain blinked. “Loud. Very loud. Are all humans this dramatic?”

She grabbed the nearest weapon—a slipper.

He tilted his head. “That’s not going to help. Unless you’re hiding holy water in that pink Adidas.”

Zuri backed up toward her door. “See ehn, I don’t know who sent you, but if you’re a thief, I don’t have anything. If it’s my village people, tell them to wait. I’m already suffering—”

Cain raised a hand. “Zuri Nwankwo. Age twenty-two. Student-slash-struggling-intern. Accidentally unlocked a demonic sequence with a typo in your code last night. You sent a message through a forbidden ancient gateway disguised as a network bug. You summoned me.”

Pause.

Zuri stared. “Oga… what in the name of Nollywood are you saying?”

Cain sighed. “You broke a supernatural barrier between realms. I’m Cain. Assistant to the Overlord of the Underworld. And now I have to babysit you before something eats your brain.”

⚠️ Pause for breath. And for Zuri’s brain to reset.

Zuri collapsed on her bed, rubbing her forehead. “This is a dream. A stress-induced hallucination. That’s what you are. Let me sleep small and restart the day.”

Cain checked his wrist—which had no watch, just a burning tattoo that glowed red. “You have about twelve hours before the first under-realm trackers find you. I suggest you get up, wear shoes, and say goodbye to this life.”

Zuri sat up. “Twelve what? Please explain what’s going on. Slowly. With jokes.”

Cain smiled. “Sure. You remember that app code you were practicing with? The one where you mixed English, Latin, and a bit of Yoruba by mistake?”

Zuri nodded.

“You unlocked a forgotten seal. One that binds your bloodline to an old demonic treaty. Congratulations. You’re now a security breach.”

Zuri blinked. “Me? Breach? I can’t even breach my own account when I forget the password.”

Cain moved closer, eyes glowing faintly red. “Listen. If we don’t leave now, some very ugly creatures will come after you. They won’t care how funny you are. Or how broke you are.”

Zuri squinted. “So you’re saying demons are after me... and you want me to follow you, a stranger in black suit with hellfire eyes and a sword-shaped shadow behind you?”

Cain smirked. “Yes.”

Zuri stood. “I knew I shouldn’t have skipped church last Sunday.”

🚖 30 Minutes Later — Inside a Keke Napep

Zuri sat awkwardly beside Cain in a Keke, trying to look normal.

The driver kept glancing at Cain in the mirror.

“You dey go party like this, oga?” the driver asked, eyeing his flaming eyes.

Cain replied in flawless Yoruba: “It’s a funeral. Might be hers.”

Zuri kicked him. “Please, reduce the demon vibes before this man throws us out.”

Cain laughed. “You summoned me. You deal with the drip.”

Zuri hissed. “If I survive this, I’m writing a memoir. ‘How I Accidentally Dated the Devil’s Assistant’.”

Cain chuckled. “Oh. We’re dating now?”

Zuri blinked. “God forbid.”

Cain’s smile widened. “That’s the second time you’ve said ‘God’ around me. He and I don’t really talk anymore.”

👀 Final Scene of Episode 1:

The sky darkens suddenly over Lagos.

A strange black mist slithers between danfo buses, unseen by humans. A whisper echoes in the air:

“The seal is broken. The girl must die. The Assistant will fall.”

Meanwhile, Zuri looks out the Keke, munching gala. “So... do demons eat food? Or are you like... vegan?”

Cain: “I eat souls, mostly. But I make exceptions for suya.”

Zuri: “Oh good. Then we’ll get along just fine.”

🔥 End of Episode 1.

My wife was acting cold and distant,
so I investigated. Turns out she was
straying with her colleagues, so I had
to send her to the alleys.
