British-born ceramic artist Mandy Henson Mandy Henson (Wasserman) presents a new body of sculptural work inspired by the ceremonial traditions, fashion, and visual culture of the British monarchy. Drawing upon the forms of royal attire, ornament, and armor, Henson transforms the female figure into richly carved ceramic sculptures where body, clothing, and structure become one.

Working in white clay and finished through kiln and wood firing, each piece bears the unpredictable traces of earth and flame. Decorative surfaces become more than embellishment—they suggest the unseen resilience that lies beneath outward appearances. Inspired by the hidden armatures that support every sculpture, Henson’s figures explore the quiet inner frameworks of identity, strength, and transformation.

Royal Armature invites viewers into a world where fashion becomes sculpture, ornament becomes structure, and the body itself becomes a vessel for memory, dignity, and endurance.

The article highlights how four Japanese artists explored humanity, emotion, and transformation in the age of AI through painting, calligraphy, performance, and installation at Gallery 60 NYC.

Thank you to everyone who joined our reception — especially the PennNYC alumni group of Penn State University, who gathered to experience art, culture, and community in Manhattan. Your presence made the evening warm, thoughtful, and unforgettable.

Questioning “Being” in New York in the Age of AI
A Group Exhibition by Four Emerging Japanese Artists at Gallery 60 NYC

In an era where AI continuously and rapidly transforms society, this exhibition establishes a philosophical sanctuary in New York to re-examine the core of “Being”̶what it truly means to exist and live as a human. Driven by the fundamental question, “What does it mean to live?”, the artists engage in dialogue with people from
diverse backgrounds to contemplate our collective future. By unearthing the emotions and imagination born from genuine human connection, this exhibition seeks to
spark new perspectives. Set against the backdrop of New York̶a multinational metropolis where diverse cultures and thoughts intersect̶the exhibition embraces this multi-layered complexity as a source of creation, exploring ways for humans to truly live as humans, transcending nationalities and borders.
