BORN ON THE SAME DAY — May 7.

Johannes Brahms (1833) and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840).

Two giants. One day. Two completely different worlds.Brahms: The perfectionist. Destroyed anything that wasn't flawless. Classical forms in a Romantic world. Restrained power. Every note earned its place.

Tchaikovsky: The romantic. Deeply troubled, emotionally raw. Swan Lake. The Nutcracker. Symphony No. 6 "Pathétique." Music that makes you feel everything — whether you want to or not.

They actually met once, in 1888. Brahms admired Tchaikovsky's orchestration. Tchaikovsky found Brahms "cold." The ultimate musical rivalry that never was.

On This Day in 1805: Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" premiered in Vienna — and music was NEVER the same. 💥

Originally dedicated to Napoleon, Beethoven famously scratched out the dedication in a rage when Napoleon crowned himself Emperor. The result? A symphony that shattered every rule of the Classical era.

It was longer than any symphony before it. Louder. More emotional. More personal. The funeral march in the second movement alone changed what orchestral music could express.

Before the Eroica symphonies were elegant entertainment.. But after the Eroica symphonies became statements of the human soul.
