We couldn’t agree more!
This is tough, but we promise - it matters.
We know that when planning an event - especially one for children - many people have the best intentions at heart. You want to create something special, something magical. But I want to take a moment to talk about why the quality of character entertainment truly matters.
When a child meets their favorite character, it's not just about a costume or a photo opportunity. It’s about the belief that for a few moments, the magic is real. Their favorite Princess or Superhero has stepped out of the story and into their world. That moment should be pure joy, not confusion or disappointment.
When low-quality characters are brought in - whether due to budget constraints or simply not realizing the difference - it doesn’t just impact that one event. It breaks the illusion for children, sometimes permanently. Instead of a core memory filled with wonder, they’re left with doubt. Instead of excitement, they’re left questioning.
Beyond the magic, there’s also a real-world impact. Professional character companies and performers put their hearts into training, investing in high-quality costumes, securing licenses and insurance, perfecting mannerisms, and making sure that every child walks away with an unforgettable experience. When events settle for less, it undercuts those who dedicate themselves to making this their craft.
So, if you’re planning an event and want to include character entertainment, I encourage you to do your research. Support those who create magic professionally. Because when done right, character entertainment is more than just a picture - it’s a moment of pure childhood wonder that will last a lifetime.
Let’s keep the magic alive.
