Calling all Sound Studies Majors to our next session of 'Pizza and Sound'. Gather together with other sound studies majors on Monday, September 13, 5pm, Hayden 100, to hang out, eat pizza, ask questions, and to hear about the exciting field of Audiology, a branch of science that studies hearing, balance, and other inner-ear related disorders. Dr. Flora Holderbaum, AuD, Asst. Prof, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, will be available to answer questions and to administer hearing tests.

Dr. Dennis Sullivan will be performing with the sound artist Merche Blasco at The Shed on June 24 and June 25. A great example of the inter-connected world of Sound Studies, Blasco is an instrument builder/sound artist/composer who has created an interactive work that examines the connections between human performance/action/movement and the amplification and manipulation of various electromagnetic fields, ranging from an amplified 3D printer, basic guitar pickups, and even the existing wiring in the building. For those of you enrolled in Dr. Sullivan's course this fall, this is exactly the type of sound art that you will exploring and creating.
