On June 11, 1895, a group of Tin Pan Alley music houses came together to form the Music Publishers Association of the United States, helping establish standards that would protect songwriters, publishers, and the future of the music business.

At the time, a single block of West 28th Street in Manhattan was the center of American popular music. Tin Pan Alley transformed New York City into the nation's songwriting capital, creating the blueprint for how music would be published, promoted, and shared with audiences across the country.

The organization they built helped shape the modern music industry, while Tin Pan Alley laid the foundation for everything from Broadway standards to today's hit songs. Not bad for a few offices filled with pianos and ambitious New Yorkers. 🎹🗽✨

👻 "Who ya gonna call?"
When Ghostbusters premiered in 1984, it became more than just a hit movie—it helped redefine what a blockbuster comedy could be. Blending humor, groundbreaking visual effects, and unforgettable performances, the film left a lasting mark on Hollywood and pop culture.

It also showcased New York City as more than just a backdrop. From the streets of Manhattan to the iconic firehouse headquarters, Ghostbusters captured the energy, character, and spirit of the city in a way that audiences around the world still recognize today.

More than 40 years later, its influence can still be seen across film, television, and fandom—and New York remains at the heart of the story.🗽

The Tony Awards started in 1947, which means they’ve been celebrating Broadway for nearly 80 years — or, as New Yorkers call it, "a pretty decent run."

Named after theater champion Antoinette Perry, the Tonys honor the best of Broadway while giving millions of viewers the annual reminder that theater kids can, in fact, become superstars.

From legends like Julie Andrews and Angela Lansbury to today’s biggest names, the Tonys have helped make Broadway one of New York City's greatest exports. Because while other cities send out tech startups, New York sends out people who can hit a high C while tap dancing.
And that’s worth celebrating. 🎭✨
