An international co-production between Crossroads Creative Lab (KR) and Monk Parrots Performance (US), bringing together artists from Korea and the United States in a shared process of experimentation, performance, and exchange.

Synopsis:

A new war is unfolding around us.

It is fought not with bullets, but with images; not with explosions, but with algorithms.

In a fractured world of spectacle, ritual, and collapse, an Angel falls to Earth, gives birth to a monstrous figure named Jones, and is driven through a nightmare of cults, game shows, auctions, street shrines, domestic violence, and planetary escape—until the audience must decide whether to destroy or heal what remains.

We’re pleased to announce that Korea-based Crossroads Creative Lab, in association with Monk Parrots Performance (NYC), has received an All Arts 31 grant through the Ansan Cultural Foundation in support of the August 2026 developmental phase of the ATOMIC war: a cloud is best measured when it is up in Ansan, South Korea.

The summer presentation will be developed with Seoul Institute of the Arts as developmental partner.

Created by Luke Landric, the ATOMIC war is an image-based, sound-centered performance work exploring ritual, media spectacle, and the machinery of complicity.

We are grateful to the Ansan Cultural Foundation, All Arts 31, Crossroads Creative Lab, and SeoulArts for helping make this next stage of development possible.

No. 15: PEARLS FOR SPURS (2024)

Set in a sweltering Florida trailer park, Pearls for Spurs is a darkly comic portrait of a family unraveling under the weight of grief, neglect, and survival. Missy, a mother numbed by pills, drifts through loss while her sister Danny forces cheer into chaos. Their children—Carousel, Kill, Spoon, and Bean—navigate violence, desire, humor, and harm in fractured ways. Absurdity masks despair as tensions escalate, asking what survival looks like when family ties are as suffocating as they are sustaining.

The 2024 premiere was presented at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre (A.R.T./New York Theatres) and supported by A.R.T./New York, the Puffin Foundation, Seoul Institute of the Arts, and individual donors. The work grew from an earlier public reading at La MaMa Great Jones Rehearsal Studios, carrying its history from page to stage.

Today’s images trace that journey—rehearsal, performance, and the emergence of a play that confronts cycles of grief and inheritance with humor, brutality, and fierce humanity.
