I'm 34, mother to an eight and a six-year-old. Jean, my MIL, kept insisting she take them for a week during the holidays, saying we needed some time off. Despite a BAD feeling, my husband agreed. I handed her $1000 for everything they’d need, and she guaranteed "the best week ever."
That week lasted forever. When I went to pick them up today, I was beyond eager to see them.
The moment Jean answered the door, I knew something was wrong. Her smile looked fake. The house was totally DEAD SILENT.
"Where are my kids?"
"Oh, they're in the backyard. They've been working so hard today!"
WORKING? My heart started racing.
"Working on WHAT Jean?"
"Just helping grandma with the garden, they're such little troopers!"
