via Queens Q***r Fam:

At Queens Community House, we believe every young person deserves a space where they can be fully themselves, build meaningful connections, and feel supported for who they are.

Generation Q is our drop-in center for LGBTQIA+ youth ages 13–21, offering a welcoming community where young people can connect with peers, explore their identities, express their creativity, and access the support they need to thrive.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the joy, resilience, and strength of LGBTQ+ youth across Queens and reaffirm our commitment to creating spaces where everyone belongs.

How do we move in right relation with our community, the lands we live on, and the people/spirits that came before us? How do we support each other in sharing our magic while moving within our capacities? What does care and shared responsibility look like when relationships, skills, entry points collide for the first time in this way?

This farm was so special in holding us in our questions and our griefs. We often talk about building slow, but when it comes to it we often do the most (maybe its something to do with our excitement, scarcity, our love, our insecurities, perfection, fear, who really knows).

I do believe we were successful in slowing down this time. We were honest about the people that were holding us, the capacities we had to give, and focused our energy on what we often talk about but then don’t often do in the moment— build intentional relationship, trust fall, be present with each other in the unplanned pauses/moments.

Ngl, we still did a lot, but we did less than I’d expected and it was somehow more than enough.

Thank you to the tenders, the spirits, the beings that shared their knowledge, their energies, their lives with us. agyamanak

Announcing Radical Death September’s Rad Death Reads“End-of-Life Doulas as Critically Reflective Allies: Connecting Ourselves to History”

How can end-of-life doulas better serve diverse populations? This four-session program addresses that question by 1) familiarizing participants with the history of race, gender, and end-of-life care in the United States and 2) offering participants strategies for developing allyship in their own care practices.

Some of the heaviest grief I've carried had nothing to do with death.

It was the end of a friendship neither of us acknowledged. The family dynamic I kept hoping would change. The identity I shed to survive.

We reserve the word "grief" for funerals. But your nervous system doesn't check for a death certificate before it shuts down.

If you're carrying something that feels like grief but doesn't have a name — it's still grief. And it still deserves space.

What's yours?

**DO IT SCARED. DO IT UNPREPARED.**

One conversation. That's all it takes to start.

You don't have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to say the thing out loud.

If you can't create right now, this is for you.

Creative block is sometimes grief in disguise. Existential weight — from the news, from systems, from the daily cost of existing — accumulates and calls itself "I have nothing to say."

You have plenty to say. You're carrying something that needs to be moved through, not worked through.

What does yours feel like?

I'm a designer and a death doula. Two practices that ask the same question: who was this built for?

Every design decision is a decision about who matters. Death infrastructure makes the same decisions — about forms, language, access, recognition — and mostly gets them wrong.

Accessibility isn't a limitation. It's a design principle. And the boundaries are what allow designers to create.

What system have you encountered that wasn't built with you in mind?

July is Disability Pride Month.

Holding something Pride months sometimes flatten: pride and grief coexist. Disability Pride doesn't erase the grief of navigating a world built without you.

This matters for death work. The end-of-life industry is profoundly inaccessible. Who gets to plan? Who gets autonomy? Who gets to choose? These are disability justice questions.

What access barrier has shaped your experience?
