When celebrities and travelers say Canada feels different… maybe there’s a reason for it.” 🇨🇦

Canada was built by hardworking people who wake up before sunrise, work through freezing winters, and never stop feeding this nation. 🇨🇦🌾
Every field, every barn, every harvest carries generations of sacrifice, pride, and resilience.

Supporting Canadian farmers isn’t just about food.
It’s about protecting local families, rural communities, and the people who keep this country strong when nobody’s watching.

The maple leaf means something because hardworking Canadians give it meaning every single day. ❤️

The decline in Canadian travel to the United States may be much bigger than earlier border data suggested, according to new research from the University of Toronto.
Initial estimates based on border crossings suggested Canadian travel to the U.S. had dropped by about 25%.
But researchers looked at cellphone activity in major U.S. cities and found a much sharper picture: a median decline of 42% in Canadian visits.
They wrote:
“This means that a) border crossing data is not capturing the full drop in Canadian business and trade-related travel and b) when Canadians travel to the U.S., they are visiting fewer locations and staying for less time than they used to,”
Some of the biggest drops were in popular travel destinations.
Key findings:
🔹Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: down 65.4%
🔹Several Florida cities, including Orlando, Miami, Naples, Cape Coral and Panama City, were among the hardest hit
🔹50 major U.S. metro areas saw Canadian travel fall by 50% or more
🔹Out of 267 U.S. cities studied, only three saw Canadian visits increase: Portland, Gainesville and Cleveland
Statistics Canada data shows April 2026 saw a small 1.4% year-over-year increase in Canadian return trips to the U.S., but compared with April 2024, visits were still down 30%.
Researchers say the decline may reflect more than tourism. Their cellphone data may also capture business travel, freight-related movement, and Canadians who had been living temporarily in the U.S. and returned home.
The findings come amid ongoing trade tensions, tariff disputes, and political friction between Canada and the United States.
For many Canadians, the message seems clear: even when people still cross the border, they may be travelling less, staying shorter, and choosing fewer U.S. destinations.

Most of Canada could be in for a hotter-than-usual summer in 2026 — but Toronto and much of southern Ontario may experience the exact opposite. 🌦️🍁

According to a new Old Farmer’s Almanac forecast, much of the country is expected to see above-normal heat through July and August, especially across western Canada and the Prairies.

But southern Ontario, including Toronto, could end up with cooler temperatures, frequent rainfall, and a stormier summer overall. Meanwhile, northern Ontario is still expected to stay warmer than usual, particularly around the Hudson Bay region.

The forecast also points to mixed weather patterns across Canada, with some areas facing dry heat while others deal with wetter and more unpredictable conditions.

Toronto may end up having one of the mildest — and rainiest — summers among major Canadian cities this year. ☔🌆

On May 8, 1945, Europe celebrated the end of the war against N**i Germany.

Canada had earned its place in that moment.

More than one million Canadians and Newfoundlanders served in the Second World War, and more than 45,000 gave their lives.

They fought in the Atlantic, in the skies over Europe, through Italy, on D-Day, across Northwest Europe, and into the final battles before Germany surrendered.

Canada also fed, armed, trained, built, and supplied the Allied war effort on a scale that still feels hard to grasp.

V-E Day brought celebration, relief, grief, and exhaustion all at once.

For families who lost someone, victory did not erase the empty chair at home.

So May 8 is not just a date about winning.

It’s a reminder that Canadians helped carry the fight to the end, and paid dearly for the peace that followed.
