That old cliché turns out to be true: the show, indeed, must go on.
Even with opening back up, theatre is struggling to find its footing. Last week, we received a letter from NY Summerfest telling us that we would be put on hold until mid-fall, or maybe even winter. This is both understandable and totally heartbreaking. We’ve begun rehearsals and our wonderful has been contracted for August performances. We have a rehearsal space thanks to the Nutley Little Theatre, we have a website at www.effigytheplay.com, we have a plan. So we sat down as a production team and we decided we would produce Effigy ourselves.
This week, we entered an agreement with Theater for the New City to go up on the same week, running the same nights! Our director, L.A., has worked at TNC before and loved the experience. We are so grateful to have a space, maybe even excited to be producing the show on our own.
So what does this mean?
We will need help with promotion and crowdfunding. Please follow the link in our bio to help out if you can, and share our Indiegogo and Patreon pages even if you can’t. Both links are on https://linktr.ee/effigytheplay.
We will be going up August 24th, 25th, and 28th, but we would like to add a fourth performance as a pay-way-you-can event. We would like to dedicate all proceeds from this night to a charity that the cast and crew chooses together.
We will have an intermission, thank god.
We will be ready to hit the ground running when New York Summerfest calls.
We will look forward to August. Hopefully, so will you.
