Fluid art has been around since the 1930s. David Alfaro Siqueiros, a Mexican artist and political activist, can be credited with the invention of fluid painting. I am a Graduate of The Visual Art School of Montreal and attended Ontario College of Art. I was formerly a potter until my career as a massage therapist and esthetician made working in clay not possible because of the stress on my hands.
In 2019, I started painting in acrylics using a fluid technique. By mixing various viscosities of pigment, I create swirls, streaks and cells which I then manipulate with a brush, palette knife and a tilting technique. The focal point of my paintings is light. I incorporate metallic golds, bronzes, and silver paints. I use high quality archival panels and canvases that are acid-free to retard deterioration. Professional quality acrylic paints have a higher concentration of pigment and are less likely to fade over time. I use a water based varnish that protects and further illuminates my paintings. My work is abstract though often various aspects of nature - rocks and minerals, the oceans and waterways, vegetation and even wildlife, inspire it. I have pieces that are smaller to mid-sized, including 6" x 6", 8" x 10", 9" x10", 9" x 12" and 10" x 10". I am open to creating commissioned pieces using colors and techniques of your choosing, and in various sizes to accommodate spaces in your home or office.
