I haven’t even gotten to post all about my week yet because it’s just coming to an end but I have to share this asap
I stopped at the beach on my route home, a beach I’d never been to, because I wasn’t ready to head home quite yet. I was hoping I might walk out to a shell flooded beach like we sometimes get the pleasure of doing, but unfortunately (or so I thought at the moment) it was mostly sand. I decided to take a short stroll anyways even though there was a lack of shells because it was still beautiful as heck out- as is any and every morning spent with your feet in water honestly.

I didn’t expect to find a bucket list shell on the GULF COAST today, much less in a fairly shell scarce beach.
My first and only Fulgurator Olive shell. These are rare and not commonly found on the Gulf side of FL. I’ve seen people find them occasionally on the east coast and in dredge piles on fb groups, but still fairly rare here.
Talk about utterly unexpected.
She’s incredible. I’ve never even seen one in real life yet!
Thanks for the send off mama natch.

I feel the need to say this

If you’re swimming in Florida at the beach you need to be considering currents. If you’re a resident here, if you’re visiting, if you’re anyone.
Be EXTRA aware of currents and tides if you are near any inlet or channel.
Maybe just remember this when going in saltwater anywhere honestly.
I watched a couple teens get pulled through a current out around the southern tip of an island today laughing and gigging like it was a quick lazy river then panicking asking for help…
Everyone was fine, but the kids looked at me scared halfway through and asked me to call for help and it was terrifying for all of us for a second until I told them to try to swim out a different direction.
I didn’t even have a phone near me at the time and if I went in I’m risking my own life and that’s not helpful either…
Currents in the ocean are no joke and you will quickly be humbled if you think you’re always going to be stronger than they are 😅
