Impressive was foaled on April 15th, 1969. He was bred by Perry Cotton in Oklahoma. Impressive was by the Thoroughbred stallion Lucky Bar and out of Glamour Bars, by Lightning Bars. He was put in race training but pedal osteitis prevented him from making a start. The hoof condition also limited his potential for any performance career.

Halter was his default career choice but he was essentially unbeatable in the show ring. Impressive earned 48.0 AQHA halter points and won 20 Grand Championships across the country. Winning the 1974 World Champion Aged Stallion title at the first AQHA World Championship Show in Louisville, Kentucky, was the pinnacle of his career.

Impressive sired 2,251 AHQA registered foals that earned 24,602.5 total points. They included 29 World Champions. Conclusive, The Graduate, Tardy Impressive, Impressive Dandy, Zip To Impress, Noble Tradition and Mr Impressive were just a handful of his noteworthy offspring. Impressive was inducted in the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2022.

Lucky Bar, the sire of Impressive, was a Thoroughbred stallion foaled on April 27th, 1954. He was bred by Sidney H. Vail and Mrs. W. S. Dana in Arizona. Lucky Bar was by Three Bars and out of Fulfilment, by Karimkhan. He made 26 starts and won 4 races. Lucky Bar sired 214 AQHA recognized foals. In addition to Impressive, he also sired numerous Racing ROM earners, Superior Halter and Performance Horses and AQHA Champions.

“Choosing to look on the bright side can be very difficult.

👉I’ve gone to shows this year and wondered if I should even bother with the next one. I’ve heard things that made me want to quit because of someone’s opinion.

I show up anyways.

👉It’s not about anyone’s opinion. It’s not about winning. It’s about growing. If you’re struggling to tell yourself this. Just show up anyways.

👉You might be the person that lost your heart horse and you’re struggling to find the right fit, and you’re getting frustrated, tired, and you question yourself.

👉You might be bringing up a young horse, and every time you think he’s ready, you mess up, but you come back again.

👉You might have overheard somebody say something you didn’t want to hear. And you might have taken it like a shot straight to the heart.

👉You might be the person that came out of nowhere and blew everyone away. 👏Little do they know you have been working for YEARS. And you think no one saw you then.👏

You might be all of them.

No ones opinion matters. No buckle, trophy, ribbon, or check matters. Nothing matters if you are not there because you love your horse. Because you have a deep love for the sport. Because you get on your horse every day to grow. To make them better. To make yourself better.

You are there because you love it. People talk bad if you lose, and they talk bad if you win. Those aren’t your people.

When you think no one sees you. They do.

All those scenarios I mentioned. I’ve seen them. And I’ve been a lot of them.

When you think no one sees you. Somebody does. I see you. I see you try. I see you struggle. I see you grow.

Never give it up.

Stay strong for that one person that isn’t sure if they wants to keep going. They’re watching you. They’re counting on you.

But not to win. They’re counting on you to show up anyways. To not lose heart.

If you think I’m talking about you. I am. I’m talking about those people I’ve seen for years. And the one’s just starting out.

Be encouraged because someone keeps going because you kept going. Because of you, I show up anyways. Because of you I can’t give up.

I said it at the start and I’ll say it again. This sport is not for the faint of heart.”

Every now and then, God shows off a little.

And if you’re lucky enough to be holding the reins when He does… you don’t forget it.

Yesterday wasn't loud.
Wasn't flashy.
Just undeniable.

What struck me most wasn’t just the history being made, it was the emotion.

Grown men and women, seasoned professionals, people who’ve spent lifetimes in this industry… in tears.

Not because of money.
Not because of fame.
But because they knew they had just witnessed something bigger than all of that.

That’s the thing about horses.

They have a way of humbling you.
Of reminding you that no matter how much you plan, prepare, and pour your heart into something… there’s still a piece of it that isn’t yours to control.

A piece that feels like grace.

You could see it in every photo.

The kind of look that only comes from being truly cared for.

Not managed.
Not used.
Loved.

And maybe that’s why this win hit so differently.

It was about a horse showing up for a human… and a human honoring that gift in return.

Moments like this remind us why we do it.
Why we keep getting back on.
Why we keep believing.

Because every now and then, God shows off a little.
