recently participated in the International Biennial Codex Book Art Fair & Symposium in Oakland, California!
BFA Printmaking candidate Margot Hulme, MFA Printmaking alumna Cole Solis Jativa, and Assistant Profesor Aurora De Armendi Sobrino showcased and discussed student, alumni, and faculty work with visitors. Additionally, MFA alumni Mary Jane Shepard-Nusbaum, Edgar Hartley, Roberto Rossi, Jativa and Derek López Vergara; BFA alum Ben Bryant; and current MFA Printmaking candidate Rika Laser exhibited their book projects alongside the work of De Armendi Sobrino and Printmaking IST Kate Collyer.
Special shoutouts are in order for Jativa—whose suite of prints titled “Sheathed by the Wing of an Albatross,” as well as her artist book, “Recetas Ecuatorianas: Para el Día,” have been acquired by the Latin American, Mexican American & Iberian Collections at Stanford University, W. Van Alan Clark, Jr. Library School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University and by the Cynthia Sears Artists’ Book Collection at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art—and to De Armendi Sobrino, whose artist book, “A Book of Questions, Libro de las preguntas, Yon Ti Liv Kesyon,” was selected to be part of “Who is America at 250? Artists’ Books on the State of Democracy,” on view during the Codex Book Fair at the San Francisco Center for Book Arts!
This incredible trip was supported by and Professional Development Funds. Student attendance was supported by the Print Club.
