West Coast Swing Academy (W.C.S.A.) has been established to create an organized structured curriculum for learning the west coast swing in the New Orleans area. Its foundation is based on teaching:

..used around the world by top pros such as Arjay Centeno, Ben Morris, Robert Cordoba, Mary Ann Nunez, Michael Keihm, Shawn and Kristen Moody, Robert Royston, Mich
ael Kielbasa, and many more. West Coast Swing Academy was founded by Byron Bellew, who holds multiple west coast swing dance instructor's certifications from GSTDA and GDPIA organizations along with a degree in music education. is designed to allow students to learn the west coast swing in a fun, inviting, and nurturing environment with structure and assessment. Students will receive certificates for each major level of completion, ultimately receiving a graduation certificate from the Academy upon completion of the entire curriculum.

Courses are as follows:

Level 1:
Level 1 course description: Basic rhythms, connection, movement, timing, and patterns such as left side pass, right side pass (under arm pass), push break (sugar push), and starter step.

Level 2:
Level 2 course description: Increased knowledge of rhythms, connection, movement, timing, and patterns such as tucks, whips, and passes with single turns and variations.

Level 3:
Level 3 course description: minor variations on rhythms, connection, movement, timing, and patterns based on fundamentals from level 1 and 2. Examples are, reverse whips, hammerlocks, turn downs, drapes, etc.

Level 4:
Level 4 course description: For the mature dancer: major variations on rhythms, connection, movement, timing, and patterns based on levels 1-3. Problem solving, communication, and creativity at an individual and partner level. Extremely versatile class that is taught in the style of a master class rather than a lecture. Students participate in assessment and creativity of patterns and techniques.
