Krewe of Petronius The Krewe of Petronius was established in 1961 and is currently the oldest active gay Carnival krewe and one of the oldest gay organizations worldwide.

From staging its bal masques in people's homes, to the ILA Hall, the Municipal Auditorium, the Theatre of the Performing Arts, the Alario Center and the St. Bernard Parish Cultural Center, Petronius is recognized as one of New Orleans' most unique cultural institutions. We are a committed and talented team of people working to ensure the history and traditions of gay Carnival are maintained, while

making new traditions which will continue gay Carnival for years to come. The Krewe of Petronius is a 501(c) non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
