Commission Work Born in 1983 in Charlevoix, Michigan, Heather M.

Kenyon is known for her unique portrayal of emotion, motion, and color that emerged from her main influences, Lisa Frank and Salvador Dali. Kenyon studied Interior and Theatre Design, as well as minored in Psychology at a small liberal arts college in Southern Michigan, where she learned her technical painting applications and informally studied art. Engrossed in art from an early age, her passion

and attention to color was nurtured, and refined her own visual and conceptual style through her focus on Pareidolia Matrixing, and the Psychology of seeing the unseen. Pareidolia Matrixing is a psychological phenomenon involving a stimulus (image or sound) where the mind perceives a familiar pattern when none actually exists, such as perceived animals, faces, or objects in formations or “the man in the moon.” The Image of Relief series combines this with Interior décor textiles into a funky fusion art. Each painting is hand drawn with Sharpie against a manipulated acrylic background and contain anywhere from 50-1,000 micro images within the main subject, including least one hidden elephant, a theme that runs across the entire collection. The series focuses mainly on animal forms and capturing their spirit in a world somewhere between Franks vivid use of color and Dali’s movement and laying. The textural part of every painting is achieved using found objects, such as old newspapers and phonebooks to paint the canvas through a 4-stage process of blotting, washes, splattering, and manipulated drying technique. The micro images themselves, are achieved by honoring the texturing left behind as the canvas is worked from every angle, until the tangle of faces and creatures are complete. They are completely sealed to ensure that the Sharpie work does not fade or bleed, making them safe to hang in any room of the house.
