I've had this "Silly" idea in my mind forever and finally got all the pieces together to make it happen. "FLOCK" Camera, LOL. It comes with a dummy camera that blinks (batteries not included). $125. 1 of 4

This was a really fun combo project, a private commission for a birdhouse AND keepsake box! Superior Seafood on St. Charles.

"Handies Douzo, Houston, TX". Whew, I feel like I birthed a giant baby with this one. IDK why it felt more laborious than others, maybe just the funky weather that slowed progress moving this build from 4 days to 7. There was also a unique element to this design where a portion of the roof extends over the porch, so to make a lid I had to cut the roof into two pieces, one that moves and one that doesn't to protect the fragility of the front porch area. Had I made the whole roof go up and down, the structure that protects the front would me thinner and more fragile. I don't like to build thin and fragile as that makes things the first to break and as a rule "I don't build the first thing to break".

My latest commission, Brigtsen's Restaurant, a gift for Chef Frank. I went over there and took some photos and used those for reference. Coming from a restaurant background myself, I understand the unique dual nature of a chef-owned restaurant, so I made this a 2-in-1 birdhouse, one for the FOH and one for the BOH. This was a lot of fun and I hope he enjoyed it.

Finished this custom commission yesterday! I think I may take some deposits on future Preservation Hall sculptures, but this isn't going to be in the regular repertoire. It looks simply, but it was anything but! Lots of detail work, I'm particularly happy with the trombone case (whittled from scratch) and the terra cotta tiles on the roof.

I jokingly referred to this as "Whopper Jr." because it was a smaller version of a much larger piece I made. Really, it should be called the "McRib" because it's not going to be around long. These are all made in small batches and AVAILABLE NOW until it's gone. This is likely the only chance I'll have to make a batch between now and Christmas so please don't hesitate to order yours today!
