What a wonderful way to launch our 2026/2027 season!

We are so grateful to everyone who helped make CAIN possible. To our sponsors, donors, community partners, subscribers, VIP guests, and everyone who joined us in the audience – thank you for your continuous support of the artists and the work we bring to the stage.

There is so much art, music, and dance still to come, and we are incredibly excited to see where this season continues to take us.

Thank you for beginning this new season of opera ballet with us. We hope to see you at the 7 Deadly Sins in December.

We were honored to welcome MOMENTA dancer and choreographer Gina Sigismondi as a guest teacher during Marigny Opera Ballet X Verismo Opera production of CAIN.

The movement language of CAIN, choreographed by Amalia Najera, draws heavily from Humphrey technique and its principles of fall and recovery, weight, breath, and momentum. Studying with Ernestine Stodelle, Eleanor King, Gail Corbin, Deborah Carr, and Stephanie Clemens, Gina taught company class as a leading practitioner of Humphrey technique, deepening the dancers connection to the movement vocabulary present throughout this production.

Due to a high demand, we’re adding a limited number of additional seats for tonight’s performance of CAIN.

If you weren’t able to get a ticket, the additional seating will be available for purchase at the door on a first come, first served basis.

MEET OUR DANCERS!!

Caleb Chesson was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He began his dance journey at the age of 11 at City Ballet Raleigh under the direction of Andrew Lamar. He then joined Carolina Ballet Summer Intensive in 2018 and later joined their school. In August 2022, he was accepted into University of North Carolina School of the Arts, training with Mikhail Tchoupakov, Ilya Kozadayev, Wesley Williams, Brenda Daniels, Phillip Broomhead, and Kate Jewitt. During his journey, Chesson has learned various techniques such as Cunningham, Horton, Limon, Counter and Cecchetti. Caleb is excited to work with many other talented dancers in the upcoming production of CAIN.

MEET OUR DANCERS!!

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Emma began her professional training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. While in Winnipeg, she performed the role of Clara in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s the Nutcracker. She also trained with the HARID Conservatory in Florida before graduating from Canada’s National Ballet School. While in school, she performed a variety of classical and contemporary repertoire including Raymonda, Paquita, Swan Lake, the Nutcracker, Harlequinade, Sleeping Beauty and original works by choreographers like Jera Wolfe, Hannah Galway, and James Kudelka.
After graduating, Emma moved to London, United Kingdom to join the English National Ballet Trainee program. While in London she performed repertoire from Swan Lake and the Nutcracker as well as mixed programs at the iconic Sadler’s Wells, which included original choreography by Mauro de Candia, Kristina Paulin, and Katarzyna Kozielska. She then joined Canada’s Ballet Jörgen, where she performed repertoire from Sleeping Beauty and a Midsummer Night’s Dream across various venues in Canada.

MEET OUR DANCERS!!

NYNA MOORE (She/Her, Denver, CO). In 2022, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with her BFA in Dance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. This is her first season with The Marigny Opera Ballet; she previously danced with Saint Louis Dance Theater (2023-2026) and has worked with many notable artists, including Tommie-Waheed Evans, Norbert De La Cruz, Jamar Roberts, Jessica Lang, Mark Caserta, and Kirven Douthit-Boyd. She is passionate about individuality and authenticity in her work and practice. Nyna is very excited to continue to explore her artistic voice in the culturally rich city of New Orleans.

MEET OUR DANCERS!!

KAYLA ESTIPULAR is a Filipino American dancer from Fairfax, Virginia, where she began her ballet training at the age of three at The Center for Ballet Arts.
During her time there, she studied a range of dance styles including ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, and tap.
This year she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Classical Ballet at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she trained under Angelina Sansone, Misha Tchoupakov, Laura Martin, and Jared Redick.
She will be joining Marigny Opera Ballet in New Orleans for their whole 2026/27 season. She wishes to continue her dance journey, spreading inspiration and joy to her audience with a smile!
