Antenna is sad to say goodbye to is, our Lead Print Production Specialist who had their last day on Friday.
is, who is a member of the Movable Book Society & Women’s National Book Association has done (an) incredible (amount of) work since coming onto The Antenna Team. As the Lead Print Production Specialist, they worked as a Residency Artist Liaison, volunteered with Drawathon, were lead designer on Antenna materials such as our Annual Report, created and distributed Book Boxes, organized Land & Labor sessions, supported exhibiting artists, self-publishers and local organizations realize their print & publication needs & much more. “Antenna and Paper Machine have been life changers since being acquainted with them in 2019. From printing Black Box zines to being a Paper Machine resident in 2020, I was amazed at the many ways the organization serves the creative community. Jessica Peterson was a formidable guide through the book world, and others in the organization encouraged venturing into other areas of Antenna, including Amelia Broussard, Amanda Cassingham-Bardwell, and Kenny Harrison. Drawathon and Creative Response were joyous moments during this time. Highlights of a few months as a Collective member transformed into working a dream job at Paper Machine, with talented printers Ken and Katya and the wondrous Mónica Mejía, who is now one of the three directors and coordinates printing and publishing resources. Along with the rest of the A-Team (that’s the name that resonates in my head :), it has been an incredible journey of working and growing through the arts. Lastly, it has been such an honor to witness all of the ingenuity of New Orleans’ literary and visual arts communities converging into countless books, events, shows and workshops over the past few years with Antenna. If anyone ever doubts, books are alive and thriving! And Paper Machine is a great place to work with and have your book printed, if you’re ready to get your story out into the world.
