The Elm Theatre is very excited to be back after taking a break from producing theatre. Want to thank everyone that has been a part of our past productions over the last 5 years as well as all of our students at The Elm. There was a lot of hard work and dedication put into the company. The break was much needed to step back and breath and to get back to why this company was started. Small intimate shows that challenge and celebrate the human spirit. We are partnering with Monica R. Harris and Matt Story for our first production back- On an Average Day by John Kolvenbach. This is a very personal story to me and I can't wait to share it with our audience. We have just launched our Crowd funding campaign and would love for you to go and check it out and support The Elm Theatre. We are back Baby!

Thanks, Garrett Prejean Artistic Director

A Letter from Artistic Director Garrett Prejean

I would like to thank everyone for making our 5th season a wonderful experience. With your help, we produced four diverse shows that required risk-taking both as a company and as artists, as well as our annual Christmas show, and a One-Act Festival which brought together incredible performers from the entire community.

First we would like to thank our Season Pass Holders. With your support, this past season was not only made possible, but successful. I want to thank all of our directors, writers, actors, stage managers, designers and volunteers that helped to make this a great season. I would like to thank The Old Marquer Theatre, The Fortress of Lushington, and Mid-City Theatre for their hospitality and their fellowship. Most importantly, I would like to thank our audiences who came out and supported us, wherever we were. Finally, thank you to the theatre community of New Orleans. Your support has been both consistent and sincere from the beginning.

Many things are changing here at The Elm Theatre. This past year was our first without a space. It was our first year with four full productions, and it was a year of change - both within the company, and personally for each of our members. These changes have caused us look deeper at The Elm Theatre itself, our trajectory, and our priorities as artists. In preparing for our 6th season, we feel that it has become necessary to take step back in order to re-focus our mission, grow as individuals, and better serve this incredible theatre community. Consequently, our season this year will consist entirely of our Second Annual One-Act Festival. The opportunity to once again bring together a vast community of performers through new work is something we are thrilled to offer and honored to be a part of.

We will also be continuing our Acting Classes as we consider education to be an integral part of The Elm Theatre’s mission. Our next session begins Tuesday, September 15th at The Old Marquer Theatre.

One-Act Festival dates will be announced in the coming months and posted soon thereafter on our website and page.

With Gratitude,
Garrett Prejean

NEVER SWIM ALONE - Meet Our Cast!
Tenea Intriago (Referee) This is Tenea Intriago’s second show in the New Orleans theatre community. Having recently been The Fish in JPAS’ THE CAT IN THE HAT, she is very excited about making her Elm Theatre debut. Being a local film actress, you may recognize Tenea in any local independent films from the Indien Media production company, OR in Netflix’s THE STARVING GAMES. Tenea has recently studied under the Neighborhood Playhouse’s very own alumni and teacher, Desiree Ladet, who studied directly under Sanford Meisner himself.
