These photos were taken on New Years. I have very mixed feelings about posting these photos. New Years symbolizes turning a new page, yet many of us learned earlier this morning that a tragedy occurred in downtown New Orleans. Luckily, I was not downtown but across the river. My goal was to capture the fireworks light up the sky with the city skyline. New Orleans, Louisiana is known for its strong people and endures many hardships. It is a time for mourning, but it will not stop the strong southern spirit of its people.

Visited my family and wanted to take Black and White portraits of each member. I'm glad with the results. No, I didn't have a flash and had to use lighting from the house. Using one room's light, and turning off the rest, using the door and corner of the wall.

Predator in the shrubbery

Another photo at the Audubon zoo. This shot was a challenge since I had to shoot through a fence and in low light as well. I'm proud I was able to capture this fierce feline walking through his path.

Shooting in the Dark

Lance Cpl. Boris J. Floresfarfan engages a target with his M-4 carbine during a combat marksmanship program qualification course at Fort Greely, Alaska.

Shooting this photo was a great experience since I usually dont get to shoot in low light areas. Happy with the result of the photo. Even though it was cold as hell outside, the v***r coming out of the rifle gives the photo more contrast (which I love).

A protective helmet lays on a desk after a active shooter scenario. 4th Civil Affairs Group conducted multiple scenarios to to qualify their staff in the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training class.
