This Saturday 6-9pm! Come see exhibit opening of “What We Share” as part of the St. Claude Art Crawl!
In the artist’s words:
“What We Share explores the tension between connection and division in an era defined by digital interaction. Centered around the visual and social language of platforms like Instagram, this body of work looks at how the act of sharing that was once a gesture of communication and community has now become both a tool for connection and a mechanism of polarization. In today’s landscape, images, opinions, and experiences circulate instantly, shaping how we see the world and each other. Social media promises visibility and belonging, yet often reinforces separation, filtering reality into opposing narratives. What we choose to share and how we share it can declare identity while also constructing boundaries. These works reflect on that duality. They consider how digital spaces influence memory, emotion, and perception, amplifying certain voices while obscuring others. At the same time, they ask us to look beyond the surface of curated images and algorithmic feeds to recognize the deeper, shared experiences that follows beneath them. Despite the forces that divide us, there remain fundamental aspects of being human that resist fragmentation: the need for connection, the capacity for empathy, the desire to be seen and understood. What We Share invites viewers to reflect on these common threads and to consider not only what separates us, but what continues to bind us together.
In a time of increasing polarization, the exhibition asks a simple question: Why do we share what we share?
