✨ Flashback Friday ✨
As we reflect on the journey leading up to Caribbean Fête 2026, we’re looking back at two incredible appearances on The Front Porch WBOK ,hosted by Gralen Bryant Banks and Kemba White Dupree, where we had the opportunity to share the heart behind this celebration of culture and community.
Both segments featured Nyree Antoinette Nyree Ramsey, Executive Director of Ujamaa Economic Development Corporation and the Cultural Innovation District (CID), who spoke about the vision and impact of Caribbean Fête.
Our first segment also featured Joshua Daly Spicy Mango of Spicy Mango and Cymande Ford WELCOME To BETTYVILLE of UglyBettyBoyCrush by Plusisaplus. Joshua shared the connection between his Caribbean roots, the Claiborne Corridor, and the legacy of the Lacroix brothers, while spotlighting Spicy Mango’s famous oxtail mac & cheese. Cymande spoke on entrepreneurship, vending, and the lasting influence of her late father, Big Chief Larry Bannock.
Our second segment featured Aritza Garcia Chef Aritza Garcia of Aritza’s Kitchen Cuban Cuisine and LaShaunda Pickett-René Ashé Cultural Arts Center of Ashé Cultural Arts Center, one of Caribbean Fête’s valued community partners. Aritza brought her delicious empanadas for everyone to enjoy, while LaShaunda shared Ashé’s commitment to culture, healing, and community empowerment.
These conversations reminded us that Caribbean Fête is more than a festival—it’s culture, history, food, entrepreneurship, and community all in one.
Thank you to The Front Porch, Gralen, and Kemba for helping us share the vision behind Caribbean Fête. ❤️💛💚
